Well because of Cobalt and Dave B. I started to throw my NO-E. At first I was lucky if I got the knife to stick 1 in 20 times. Today I was hitting 9 out of 10 with decent groupings.

Here is a 30 sec clip of me throwing my NO-E. At the very end you will see a close up of the board. Can you tell where I hit the most? :D I actually threw the blade through that hole at the end of the session.

Feel free to post your throwing pics and vids.

makes me want to throw somethin, makes me want an NO-E! Anyone out there ever do some throwin with the FSH? thats the closest thing in size that i have to an outlaw.

Most of my shots, where the hole is at the end of the video, seem to be sternum level. The NO-E is a great thrower. Now I can roll around the back yard and play "The Hunted". :p

I threw my Dog Father but it hit handle first rebounding and chasing me acrossed the yard.

thats pretty good man, i have only thrown my BM-E at a distance of about 10ft. anything further than that and i start to loose control of the rotation. The BM-E is not a bad thrower though, it comes out of the hand pretty smooth

Sweet video.

Have you tried varying your distance yet, or are you staying pretty stationary? 9 out of 10 is awesome btw...

Excellent technique!

But you need to get a big section of trunk -- just like Cobalt. That will eliminate your little problem with the target's integrity.

I've been considering that as well. That looks like a sweet setup for times when you can't head out into the sticks.

:D :D

Grip: I will take a pic later to illustrate. Pics say things I can't. :)

Trunk: Yeah, I definately need that. The stupid plywood I was using had a lot of flex and bounce. Many, many times I hit it tip first but it would bounce back because of this. A "Cobalt" style trunk would rule. I'm not sure where to look in my area though. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I just keep an eye out for a tree service cutting down a tree, sometimes they leave the big stuff behind and come back and pick it up later. Thats if there are any trees left in SoCal.

Just drive out to Rancho Cucamonga near 19th and Miliken area right after a good santa ana wind storm. You will find many fallen trees out there. That is where I use to go get wood. Take a chain saw to make quick work of it. There are a lot of Big Eucalyptus trees out there.

good thread by the way. It's amazing if you really think about it. I have been throwing my hollow rivet mistress for around 8 years or more and I never even thought that it would break, but if you listen to what people will tell you, they will say that a high Rc knife should not be thrown because they can break. Typical throwing knives are mid/hi 40's to low 50's in hardness, to make sure they don't shatter. I have shttered many knives over the years. Cold Steel's Carbon V was notorious. So was ontario. If they had been softer it would probably been ok.
