I just read a thread on strider and I like what i see with there knives. Many others didn't they said there over priced. I'm not military or the law, I like knives and like to use them. I was wondering on others opinions on which is the best as far as fixed blade for chopping cutting and any other abuse I could throw at it. I was looking at the Busse web site and saw nothing about warranty I haven't looked at Striders warrant, but I would expect spending that kind of money that I could try to cut threw sheet metal and throw it in a fire then break it in a vice and then, have it replaced. I wouldn't do any of that but for the price I would think they should replace or repair know matter what had happened to the knife. If someone could shed some light on the warranty subject I would appreciate it.Like I said I'm not military or a LEO but I collect and use, my taxes are coming and I would like to add one to my collection and maybe even use it. thanks.

Not to suggest that the Striders are bad because they are certainly very good knives. I'd get the Busse though. I don't think there are any better fixed blades available than these. They are sure comfortable in the hand too. I mean there are lots of good ones. I just don't think they are really quite up to same level as Busse and all the off shoots of them including Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard knives. If you want a good value chopper the Dog Father by Scrap yard is also a fine choice. I have one and its awesome.

You won't have any warranty issues in all likelihood with either of them but both are covered as well as any others in the
industry.

If you go to the Busse web site it has a little emblem on the top of the page. "GUARANTEED FOR LIFE"

I understand Strider's warranty has changed slightly but unless you modify the knife you get I believe its still unconditional.

Just for info, that Busse warranty holds whether you are the first owner of the knife or the 50th.

Busses are awesome. (I am not saying that Striders aren't. Having never owned one, I am not qualified to opine which is better.)

Tick, tick, tick, tick.......KABOOOOM!

How long do you think is the lead time till this thread goes to hell? :D

ive never heard of a busse being denied any warranty repair or replacement.

striders warranty is more conditional. i have read of people having difficulty getting repairs without including some money.

i have never had to send a strider in, and all my dealings with them have been pretty positive.

i have sent in busses and swamprats, and ALL work was done free of charge. from sharpening to refinishing. they will charge for cosmetic requests like scale changes and such, but repairs are normally done for free.

btw, since this isnt one of those whine about strider/spark threads, no pt nomination necessary.

I don't think it will. There are certainly enough "hell bound" threads going on elsewhere at the current time, so I predict this one will remain civil. Now, how long do you think it'll be until another "SnG vs. Sebenza" or "Why do Striders cost so much" thread begins? :D

Strider folders are better than busse folders because you can buy one!

sigh......so true:rolleyes: :grumpy:. Hahahah but hopefully not for long. I own both and for what you describe I prefer Busse. Just my preference, I saw a thread were a guy beat the back of it with a wrench for what like 8 hrs?(someone help me out here) and Jerry replaced it. I know of at least one report of a Busse being shot with a .30-.30 and it being replaced. Many people have gone above and beyond and Jerry still replaces them(many he probably didnt have too) where as I have not heard such stories with Strider, but maybe I dont have both ears to the ground;).

Barrabas74 has a Busse folder! And he prefers it over Strider!

ahh, wait a minute, no April 2, uhh . . . context check . . .

Can you post pics?

Hey Kelly....

Not to pile on on anything,, however...

Why would you "expect" to have a knife replaced for free under warranty, If,, you intentionally threw it in a fire and then broke it in a vise ?

That would be along the same lines as draining the oil on your car, and driving it until the engine seized up, then towing it into the dealership and expecting them to drop in a new motor for you...

I can see cutting through sheet metal,, as that shouldn't hurt it,, but the other would be intentionally destroying the knife...

I know you were just trying to make a point,, But...

Just for clarity those were both Swamp Rat's and yes, we did replace both of them. The Battle Rat was shot twice, the first shot didn't completely kill it ;)

Actually, it broke the next day. It was batoned for 8 hours with by a hard pipe wrench against the soft back of the Swamp Rat, and still lived.
Here's the thread:

It only weakened it enough to get it to break the next DAY, but go ahead.....
BUY STRIDERS!
(avoid swamp rats, scrapyard knives and Busses, PLEASE!)
PS.... Eric, you are awesome!
