Busse warranty question

They do make things right, or better than right as the case may be. I have personal experience with their customer service, and it is second to none.

I'm not doubting it. From my limited time spent on this subforum, the Busse crew seem to be a bunch of cool, down to earth people. I just find it weird that people that have been here for a while can't give me a straight forward answer about a basic warranty question. I understand INFI is tough, and their customer service is good, but it's not really answering my question about how Busse handles blade replacement.

I'm not sure why you think that the fan base would be able to provide anything like the official answer. Did you look up Jerry's previous responses to these questions? Perhaps you should simply email him directly?

As has been mentioned above, if Busse has the blade blank available, they will replace your knife. Simple as that. AFAIK, if they do not have a blade blank, then you would get shop credit for the original factory price paid.

Why not call the company office to elicit answers to your questions?

I can name off 5 or 6 different company's warranties and their policies regarding blade replacement and their services ETC. and I'm not even a die-hard fan of theirs. I was hoping Jerry or someone from customer service or better yet, someone that had a blade replaced would chime in.

Thank you for your answer in the second part.

Well obviously there aren't too many Busse's that need to be send back for warranty claims...

Matt,
You were told the answer you were looking for in the 4th post, if you didn't believe that a simple search brought up the answer. Read this post for Jerry's Official answer.

Beyond that very few people have had to use the warranty so there is not much for first hand experience. We do however, have experience with Jerry Busse's Integrity for taking care of his customers, and that is something you can put your trust in.....along with his blades.

I hope that helps.

I am truly astounded by the proposition that Busse should make someone whole for the aftermarket price that they paid for a knife. To maintain that Busse should be responsible for anything beyond the original sales price from Busse for the knife is ridiculous.

Thanks Eric. I over looked the first few answers since it seemed like they were guesses and a few people were saying different things. Anyway Thanks again for everyone's help!

That makes 2 of us.
Is there any company in the world that sells knives...or any type of goods for that matter...that would have such a policy???

Busse's warrantee is already pretty dang generous... It covers workmanship defect or amy major unintentional damage by the user/owner. It lasts forever. And it travels with the knife from owner to owner. Not many knife companies can match it.

Thread summary after clicking on promising title about broken Busse:
Worry about warranty for broken Busse = Check
Worry about market value replacement for broken Busse = Check
Pics provided of a broken Busse = Fail :thumbdn:
Claim provided of a broken Busse = Fail :thumbdn:
Justification for worry about broken Busse = Fail :thumbdn:
Pics of any Busse knives = Fail :thumbdn:

This thread is 67% broken so now I want my click replaced at full market value. :grumpy:

Seriously though relax, have some fun and show your INFI some love and stop sweating the warranty already.
All of this fun, still with the original factory edge and no need to use the warranty is what it is all about. ;)
Merry Christmas! :p

I've seen lots of pics of broken tips, and mashed edges, and two (TWO) truly broken by a regular user, not a "tester"

It was a Skeleton Key that had been driven into a cinder block then kicked. He used the warranty.

The other fellow that shot his Bushwhacker, didn't, but could have.

Both were a little offended that people had the gaul to ask, why?

Don't think anyone needs to worry about warranty on these knives in any way. Maybe jerry should tell his concrete driveway story:D

Holy Crap! The prodigal son returns to grace us with his presence!:D;)

Cobalt, how ya been? How's the family? Merry Christmas!

OP you shouldnt worry. If you manage to damage your knife beyond repair...

#1 I dont think its very likely that a Busse is going to break.

#2 Busse will stand behind their product. Best customer service around

#3 I have a hard time believing that if they do not have a blank available another can not be easily made. These are CNC machined, just load up the .DXT file on some of the same thickness INFI stock and there you go.

maybe the original price refund is a clause for some of the old Busses made of A2 or that were hand made since they may not have a template or material for it.

I've never experienced a #1, so #2 is a none issue:D

I am fine. I tried getting into BF the other day but google indicated that this site has some sort of virus. Merry Christmas ;)

What reassurance are you looking for? The SHBM sold for something like $397 back when. (someone will correct me soon, no doubt) If you buy one today on the Exchange for $800, do you really expect Jerry to give you $800 in credit in the event you destroy it? The Busse warranty is great, but not that great.

It has been my observation that Busse makes extra knife blanks along with the original run. Therefore, these blanks are available later for warranty work. That is my observation, not a stated policy from Jerry.

Scratch that. The link to Jerry's post helped me to better understand the warranty policy.

I would not expect Busse to reimburse you for the full aftermarket price of an SHBM, but I do hope that enough blanks are saved from all runs in case of catastrophic failure of an older blade.

At the end of the day, I'd say most of us will never break a Busse or kin beyond repair. I don't think I ever will.
