I bought this BWM off Ebay and the previous owner had completely destroyed the edge. I mean completely. I sent it to the factory, they stripped, reprofiled, recoated, sharpened, and dyed the micarta handles a uniform color. Looked like a brand-new knife. No charge (aside from shipping).

Killer warranty, Busse!!!

Not everyone gets that good of service. I sent my SJ #99 in for re-finishing one Jan. 10,2013. Knife wasn't in that bad of shape. I'm still waiting, even though they said my knife was going to be shipped when I called.

I also asked if I could buy a 2" x 2" piece of matching handle material as I am making s sheath that will hold a NA LR revolver on the front and wanted to make matching grips. They said NO. Oh well, I've started the sheath based on a CR fighter.

So far, I'm very disappointed in the service I've gotten.

GS, please notice OP didnt mention time frame. Just that they didnt charge him to fix the blade. I have had knives in that took over a year to spa/customize etc. So, IMHO your 2 month wait has been very short. Also, you may not be aware til now that Busse will not sell anything in regards to handle material. I learned this years ago when I sent in some older knives for rehandling and didnt get the old slabs back. I believe, not cause anyone has said so, that they dont want handle slabs out there cause it just makes it easier for someone to counterfeit a model. Again, this may be furthest from truth as its just my guess.

With that being said, I would call them and let them know your concerns if you are not happy. 419-923-6471:thumbup:

I will add that I think that what they did above for OP is above and beyond what any other company on the planet would do for a customer on a modified product purchased from the secondary market thus still keeping warranty intact and knife returned to like new status at no charge too boot:eek:.

OP where is the before shots ?:D Would of loved to see the before and after. I too have had an exact experience. Sent in a whooped blade I bought used, didnt need to prove I was the original owner nor did they even ask what happened to her. Cpl months later I get a knife that looked dang near new, AWESOME!!!!

SO basically all you have to complain about is that it wasnt shipped when they said it would? (ps 2 months is NOTHING) Accidents happen, call them. Not sure why you even mention the handle material. Tell me a knife company that will sell customers raw materials

Eric......what exactly is a "whooped" blade?

Another vote for Busse Warranty.....I've used it 2x and nothing but praise for work they've done!

Nothing Noss worthy. A whooped blade I would consider something thats significantly more beat up then users Ive owned for years. Just significant dents/dings/rolls. Busse probably considered it barely used though :p

This thread makes me want to chop everything in my yard down! Knowing Busse will back my knife up feels Awesome!
Never used their warranty to date.

I remember a forum member (please forgive me, I dont remember who) who abused his TG and Busse re-profiled it and re-finished it, but, doing that with a knife bought out of ebay...bro, thats is even a higher standard, a completely different level.

Congratulations again...To busse and the user...and everyone of us busse owners, I believe...

By the way the knife looks great and I agree it goes above and beyond to do that.

Knifehunter- please tell me the year wait was not on warranty work but on full on custom work.

ETA- I did not order my busse for the warranty, I ordered it because of the incredible reputation for durability. The warranty is a bonus, and I fully understand that it takes time to repair. Also I understand that no other manufacturer would go to this level for a damaged edge. Recoated, reprofiled, redied, all for nothing. Great work busse.

back when i was buying busse's off ebay i received a couple that were unused but had a bad edge or some other cosmetic problem.busse never gave me a problem fixing them up. they are a great company!!!!

I mean I would think that a 2-3 month return wouldn't be unheard of for the size of busse. They aren't going to be able to turn stuff around as fast as kershaw or spyderco.

And as far as the extra material thing, while it would have been nice for them to sell it to you that is completely their prerogative. I don't know exactly how the shop works, but I can't see them buying a whole lot of extra anything to have on hand.

Busse seems to have a very loyal sheeple customer base. Good for them for a production knife company. I have started the project of the knife/NA .22 sheath that I needed the 2" x 2" pieces of matching material to complete...not a set of scales (unless one of you experts can tell me if Busse ever made a knife that used 2" scales). As soon as I get the knife back I will make one of my leather sheaths for it and then sell it.

Those are pretty hard feelings for waiting for a free service and not selling you something. 2 months for a small knife company (small compared to some) ain't bad. But you can't please everyone. How many other knives do you think were shipped to them, before yours, to take care of, do you cant think that yours is the only one?

Wow! Seriously? Dude....That rocks. I mean it doesn't sound like a warranty job (no cost) but more of a spa treatment ($$). Nice one on the Busse Folks!

My best story is when I sent my FSH in to have the std slabs replaced with Mags, recoat, and a penetrating tip ground on. Well long story short....we (Busse & me) forgot about the knife and a few months later Amy & Garth felt so bad about it, they shipped it work and all "No Charge"! Busse Rocks!

Who said that my service was free? It wasn't and I didn't expect it to be. And I expect ANY company to live up to there word.
