Yeh...no offense, but down here cops start lower than teachers, and we ain't that well paid either. That 50-70g range you posted is more like what feds make.

I know Houston's not SoFla, but this post got me wondering what Texas cops make.

A while back the Houston Chronicle put a thing on their website that listed what public employees made. I knew a guy in college who went to work for the Houston Police Department, so I looked him up. He was a Senior Police Officer with about 20 years on the job. I'd always heard that cops weren't particularly well paid, but he was making a bit over $70K a year, with another $27K in overtime. Total pay was just under $100K. (The cops all had a lot of overtime; a few had almost $100K just in overtime.)
