For your viewing pleasure...

I very recently acquired through trade (thanks man, you know who you are) a very nice NMSFNO. It'll be a working blade paired up with either a SpecOps or a Armorall Leather sheath.

I have also been a big fan of Danner boots, but I could never get myself to pull the trigger on a pair, just never had that much $$ to spend on pair of boots, particularly when I had several other brands that did an adequate job.

Well, I happened to be at the local general store and low and behold, they had some 'Made in the USA' Danner Combat Hikers they were blowing out the door for ~$120. I could NOT pass these up. Looks like as the 'Improved' Combat Hikers have come out, these are getting sold at pretty substantial discounts...good 'nuff for me. A pair came home with me and I picked up a pair for Dad as well (also a Danner fan).

Figured I'd do a little photo shoot. Made in the USA Danners and a Made in the USA Busse NMSFNO. Seemed like a good pairing...colors also semi-compliment each other.

And while I was at it I pulled out my Oooold School Asolo Globalines...you won't see too many of these out on the trail...these things have basically been in mothballs for about the past 15 years...I've just never had occasion to need this 'serious' a boot and usually a lighter-duty pair gets the call. I hope to change that sooner rather than later, as I have some absolutely awesome hiking/outdoor activities within a hour or two drive. But the Asolos seemed a pretty fitting matchup for the TankBuster...they're both pretty bombproof.

So in any event...I'll let the photos do the rest of the talking.

Nice, I am a fan of Danner as well and just picked up a pair of the Combat Hikers from their "Breakroom" for $50. Definitely built like Busse, if they are made in the USA.

Nice pair of blades:thumbup:

Don't forget to post pics of the thumping you give em!

Man I keep seeing folks saying they got a pair of the danner's for 50 bucks and I can't find them its killin me.

I probably could have lived my whole life without knowing Combat Hikers were selling for $50 someplace...sheesh, I'd probably buy three pairs at that price.

But I much prefer to at least be able to try 'em on (I broke my foot when I was teenager, so fitting can sometimes be a little bit of an issue) and the sale is helping a local business, and we've had more than a couple go under in my neck of the woods, so its all.

I dare somebody to try and find a like-new pair of Globalines for sale:D

Gotta laugh, thread's getting a bit highjacked...no worries...its all for fun.

Sorry for the hijack, but less $ spent on other stuff is more $ for INFI.:D

Two of my favourite things - Busse and Danner.

Very well worn Arcadia's (non-insulated):

Hurry on the Danner order, very few sizes left, just got mine in the mail friday, what a friggen deal for $50.00.. These are every bit as good as the other Danners i paid full price for, they rock.

I have been tempted to try Danner but I have been so happy with OTB "Over The Beach" products.
These are the jungle lite boots designed for hot, wet climates. Perfect for the swamps in S.Florida.
As the name states they are very lite, constructed of all synthetic materials. Honestly they feel like
a pair of running shoes. And the materials will get wet but not absorb water. They are equipped with
perforated soul beds and drain holes. This pushes water away from your foot and out the drain holes.
Combine that with the water proof material and the dark color they dry in minutes, which promotes
foot health.

I was a little concerned about the longevity of the materials and construction but they take
an absolute beating and keep on going. All this comes with a price. These are about $140
but it's worth every penny. When you can find a boot that is perfectly designed in every way
for your climate, especially a hot,wet climate, I say go for it.
Be good to your feet.

Boss1,
Got those exact danners on right now, got the breakroom $50.00 special. Man they are comfortable all day long. Helluva bargain. Beautiful nmsfno, that's kinda one of my Grail knives. Well done and enjoy the boots, I got like 4 pairs of danners. Had one pair for 15 years, soles replaced, still going strong. They are definatly built like Busses

Another vote for Danners; those are some excellent boots. I've put plenty of miles on mine...

Quite a few years ago, I picked up a set of 10 inch 200 gram Gortex Danners for $70 at a business going under sale.

I crapped a brick!

They are still going strong. I don't wear them enough to have even significantly worn out the sole. They get worn mostly "off road" out hunting or such.

I have better dedicated winter and summer boots, so they will probably last me another 10 years!
