Busses & Boots (NMSFNO & TB + Danner & Asolo)

My Arcadia's in the photo above are over 13 years old. They have been worn almost every day. They have gone through many soles and laces but are just now starting to loose shape and support. I'll be retiring them soon (sadly) and replacing them with a new set of the same. They cost me $450 at the time, which was a good price. Works out to about $30 a year for the worlds best boot.

Chris.

Anyone have any hands on or a FIELD review of the Danner DFA? I wanna know how it does in the woods, I don't really care how it holds up walking around the city or a precinct.. Is their imported stuff just as top quality as the stuff that's made here? I appreciate your opinions..

I wear danners at work, I am a big fan of the arcadia model, owned 3 pairs. I wear them at work until they look too crappy to polish then they become my hunting boots. my first pair lasted 10 years and they were more waterproof than my duck boots which were part rubber!

FYI, many of danner's soft boots are now made in china, the arcadia and the higher end models are made in oregon still.

2 more pairs of $50 Danners (Actually, one pair was $5 after all the signup discounts.) and my current INFI users, the ones that I will never let go. The Combat Hikers went to a friend in need at work. Email me if you want a link to the site I shop at.

You guys need some Wesco boots! They are the INFI if the boot world as they are indestructible!

Danner, Zamberlan and Belleville for me... pics to follow.... just too a "boot pic" while I was away hunting for the past week.... :)

Nice SFNO, Over Kill. How practical do you find it with those "flying" style serrations?

Sorry for the OT.

Chris.

I think the serrations (I call the particular serrations on this blade "teeth"), offer significant tactical value to the sfno. They are designed I believe to grab or bite down on softer materials making rip and drag motions stick and bite in considerably deep. The serrations do not bother me and I am still able to do any non-tactical and utilitarian chores with the blades plain edge that I would do with any camp knife.

Funny this thread popped up.... I have been away all week hunting and such and spent a couple of hours in the middle of one day with my feet in the fast flowing (just out of flood) creek... it was pretty damn nice sitting under the shade and cooling off. While I was there I snapped this pic below of a pair of my Bellevilles... these are the pair that live in my truck for emergencies (or situations that require boots when I am wearing something else) normally i would not have had them out but when I left for this trip away i forgot to pack and thongs (flip flops for you heathens) or runners to wear around the cabin/yard when the hunting boots are wet and horrible... so out these came. While snapping off some other pics I took this one just for giggles....now I see there is a thread into which it fits almost perfectly.....

Wow. Very similar to a Danner Acadia. Could you not locate a left and right thong somewhere in the bush?!

Chris.

Man I keep seeing folks saying they got a pair of the danner's for 50 bucks and I can't find them its killin me.

I got a pair of Hawk 200 gram Gortex Hunting boots for $70 (though that was more than 14 years ago). They are on the original soles still, and going strong. I don't wear them too much really.

I got them at a going out of business sale.

I have never seen them cheaper. If I did (or for close to that price), I would buy another set. Of course, my favorite are the light hikers. I have the Cabelas copy of the Mountain light hiker (in Gortex), and they are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn (also got them for super cheap, about 80% off) When I wear them out finally, I think I will go for a pair of the Danners in that style).

One of my best deals, though, was on a pair of Northface pack boots. Rated to -40. $28 dollars! I almost bought them at twice that price (which was an insane deal) but the sales guy came over to me and asked me if I would be able to be back the next morning at opening. If so the boots would be another 1/2 off!

It is just complete luck on both.

My Zamberlans and ASH1 that just spent the week away with me. The boots are supplementary issue to Australian forces in Afghanistan, I have found them to be GREAT boots in the bush...!!!!

Well, i dosnt have Danners, but i have these Swedish"Lundhags" boots. Lundhags have been making footwear since 1932 and sertainly knows their buisness. The foot itself consists of a layer made of some kind of rubber, which is connected to the leather inner shoe, which makes them very durable and waterproof, Wibram soles. Widely used by hunters and seriously outdoors people, some military units too. Fits the standard NATO ski bindings.
