Busse's.... Can't give'em away!

I think its both... INFI by the truck load and the economy.

But I do wish Boss would give us a little breather and let things catch up a bit...
It would be nice if those of us who have bought a lot from him, could have
a chance to rotate out of a few without getting killed on the resale price. :(

I have a few I'd like to sell, but I don't want to do it at a loss...and
I don't want to be #154 of the same knife for sale.

.

Agreed. But on the bright side, if I can't get rid of my knives I can always abuse them, then resell them in a few years and get about what I'd charge now for them. It's a matter of time preference, and some seller's just don't want to (or can't) wait that long to sell off a knife.

So I guess the trick is to not bite off more than you can chew, because you might not be able to spit it back out.

You just need to try to make sure you will like it before you order now. Sometimes thats hard at times without spine shots or handle width, and not getting to see/feel first.

I think that there sums up what I've been debating in my brainpan. I'm all for the influx of Infi, the growth and development of Busse Combat, and the availability of Infi to new users. Hell, I bleed black and gold! (Bruins fan also ;) ) There just seems so much of it lately that I need to decide which knives to purchase and which one's to pass on. I have never bought or sold Infi with profit in mind, and on more than many occasions, sold at a loss to what I've bought it for just to get it into the hands of newcomers. It just seems lately that there's more coming out of the Busse compound that I can afford to buy,

I guess my bottom line gripe is the economy sux, and I need more money to buy Infi. :D

That's funny, I was responding to another thread and it posted here.
Still a few bugs in the system.

It's a buyer's market right now, but hopefully it'll stabilize. Part of the fun of collecting Busse is that if you get bored of a blade you can sell it for around the same value or more. This enabled Busse collectors in the past to move their collection around easily and score what they truly desired.

I would say this social/commercial aspect to collecting Busse is part of what makes this scene so fun and addictive. I know that if I can't keep a blade or want something else more, I can get my money back. This sense of security is an added bonus I don't have with other manufacturers.

Increased production will produce profits for the company for a while.. but it's a delicate balance like any real world economy. Gas prices and the housing market in the US aren't helping !! Let's hope that everything settles and the HOGing continues !!

More knives and increased availability is a big plus for me as a new comer to Busse.

Personally I would like to see greater availability of older models.....although I have now got all I want. Some I had to get on the secondary market and paid a lot more for.....but at least I got them. It is better than being frustrated at the great reports of a model being the ultimate of it's type and never feeling you will see one being traded ....or that you can afford one....if it is.

Like many I am probably buying more than I need to find out which I like best.....for me...and if need be I would hope I can sell the others should I need to.

Taking a loss on selling on seems fair enough if it happens when I have gone to the extravagance of getting knives and using them to find a favourite when really.....if I had to pick just one because of funds.....it is entirely likely it would do all I asked of it.

Flipping knives is like any speculation....a risk...I don't agree with it on Combat entry level knives as you simply deprive a justified and entitled potential user such as a soldier on a modest income from being able to access a good knife for what it was intended for.....if these fly out of the shop and come back at a flipped mark up....that is to me against the spirit of the way Busse Kin knives are made and sold by the manufacturers.

Where as on the recent custom Ganza.....if collectors are the main customer base....all is fair in a free market which they themselves create.

If Busse made enough knives to enable them to be available "in theatre" where limited internet access prevents on line buying.....that for me would be a big plus. Sometimes you have to have the "garden fence" recommendation and availability for the knives to become a "hit" with the guys who the "Combat Grades" were intended for.

I also think the secondary market should pledge on the Exchange to always allow shipping to buyers in Services serving in the Sandpit or any other foreign base for US troops and Allies. This Conus thing stops our troops from picking up a knife altogether even if they can get the required internet access. Sometimes you don't know what you need until your out there.....so for me at least....abundant supply is actually helping international posting and bringing Bussekin out to our troops.

Thanks for serving.

My understanding is that we can ship to your military address at the same price we ship to CONUS. Its been 35 years since I got out, and stuff changes. But I'd love to find a way to give those in harm's way a break.

You want a box full of books? I have a bunch of Jack Reacher and other mysteries I'd be glad to send to Baghdad. What else would you want in a care package? Heck, I'm sure plenty of us on the forum would send over a box if we knew what you wanted (besides our nmfbm).

Thanks JJP.....I am actually the "Allies" part of my post.... the British Army....hence posting outside Conus is an issue....but I know of a number of Canadian/Czech/British guys trying to score a BusseKin knife on the Exchange who have struggled. There are good guys who help out....and clearly you would be one of them.....many thanks for your good wishes and kind offer.

will be including military apos etc for shipping in future.

GReat IDEA!

There are a lot more knives out there now than a few years ago.

When I first started collecting Busse knives "way back" in 2006, you couldn't buy one on the exchange or from the Busse Combat website.

My first knife was a Mojo that I got in a 'ganza. I bought it just to own a Busse.

From the time you buy, till the time you sell, it is only paper profits or loss.

Only when you actually sell does profit or loss take place.

On paper what I have looks pretty good, Cobalt's sale has affected the market, but then market corrections do take place from time to time.

Try to buy knives that you like to look at, use and want to keep.

For those who buy to sell, that is why is is called "Speculative Buying" win some, lose some.

Seems there was a comic book bubble sometime back. Anyone make any big money on the Death of Superman issue ?
