Busse's on vacations/trips?

As Blade nears, if I can't find some answers, I'm probably going to bring this up again. No need to check my luggage on the way to the show, but I don't feel comfortable checking the knives in on the way back, and I can't carry them on. Too many sticky hands among baggage handlers.

The Cobb Convention Center/Waverly Hotel has a business center which includes everything needed for mailing knives home. Pretty sure they are set up to mail via UPS, FedEx...and maybe DHL? (not USPS) They do have boxes there, but I wouldn't wait until Monday to ask them as the better sized boxes go pretty fast. Also, at past BLADE shows, Amy & Garth (Busse) have kindly offered to take my knives back to Wauseon and ship them to me from there. Might be worth calling to see if they can help you with this, and it might be cheaper then FedEx/UPS from GA if you don't mind waiting about a week or so for them to get so much deserved rest and then sort out everything they have to unpack from the trip before getting them mailed out. :)

ETA: Oops...missed Jroden's reply. :D Good to know about the USPS store...didn't know that!

When I drive somewhere, the NMSFNO isn't too far behind, and the SAR 3 usually tags along, along with a few odds and ends.

Last time I flew it was in January, went to North Carolina for a show. Brought the BAe, Lionsteel, and the Blind Horse Batwing with me. Out of Indy I had no issues and same way in Atlanta going to Raleigh. coming home though was another issue. We get to the Raleigh airport and the security guys are real d**ks (hell in Indy they had a sense of humor), we get to Atlanta with no issues after that, and onward to Indy. I get my bag in Indy and the TSA guys (probably in Raleigh) decided to chop my lock off, then give it back to me! My bag was rearanged, they took some stuff out of my Camelback Trizip (laptop, magazines, etc., they didn't touch the BAe though. I had the Lionsteel and the batwing in a pelican case (locked), they didn't mess with that.

Sooo, long story short. Driving, I have at least 1 Busse. Flying, I don't trust TSA or security so I'm hesitant to bring any but I feel I must incase the SHTF when I'm away and I have to fight through the zombies to get back to Indiana.

I know I was looking for a secure cargo net for my cruiser (motorcycle) and someone showed me this steel cable netting that was lockable. Basically, whatever you put in it stays there unless someone takes the time to clip all the cables. I'm wondering if those come big enough or if they or something similar would help repel those sticky fingers when flying the friendly skies...?

I prefer to fly like Americans did in the 1800's, by their own conveyance or by train which was and still is faster than walking.
Not much else I trust these days. The TSA is a joke, I was there when it started and it has only gotten worse with nothing to show for it but billions of wasted tax dollars.
If I were forced to fly on a plane with my valuables, I would definitely put them all in a locked case with a firearm so as to get the special treatment Peter mentioned.
I miss the days when we were free to travel without it being anyone else's business, especially the government.
I keep a 711 in each of my vehicles, my meaner hack is always on me and often a Basic 11 goes along too. More/others go if I plan to share knives for others to learn about how amazing bussekin knives are.

As for the TSA and baggage handlers, are there any locks/bags that help to ensure you have to be there for them to be able to get into your stuff??

Thanks

Not really. Like I said, I had a lock on mine but they cut it off. There are "TSA approved locks" that stop other "normal" people from getting into your baggage but TSA would still be able to get in because they have a key that would unlock it.
