Busses vs Mad Dog

Cobalt, curious what the reason is for not using hard chrome? I've seen other makers use it on carbon steel...

One reason is Hydrogen embrittlement.

The other reason is That carbon steel rusts. hard chrome is not a vapor barrier. So moisture can get through. Moisture can also creep under the Cr from the edge area and it will rust the steel without you knowing about it.

If you hard crome stainless steel I get it. But not carbon steel/

I have a set of Mad Dog 1911 Grips...I wonder if they are worth a couple Thousand bucks...Hahahahaha!
They are made from the same material that his handles were made from.
