Hah, I'd like to meet up sometime actually, would be nice to meet some fellow knife nuts. If the wifey gets too pissed, you may be in a rare positions to buy my stuff on the cheap ;)
 
A safe for knives? Bah. How about showing the kids the knives and letting know that 1) they are very dangerous and 2) so are you if they mess with them without your permission / supervision / etc. They will find a way into the safe if that's what you're relying on *or* you could make this valuable and useful dad/kid time. My two cents worth.
