Thanks for the kind nomination, Tom!I’m going to join team Gary5K Qs - it would go well with his retirement knife, he shares my enthusiasm for the economical, and if he wins, What-A-Opportunity to keep the “What-A-…” comments flowing!
Except my recent Case purchase, all of my knives are inexpensive. If I had to choose my favorites, it would probably be these:

The Pallarès plastic version is even more bare-bones:

Pallarès makes the only knives I have encountered whose cutting performance matches, or even maybe exceeds, that of Opinel.
Oops! As usual, I failed to read the instructions all the way through…Thanks for the kind nomination, Tom!
But I think it violates the GAW rule limiting nominations from others to no more than one for each participant.
It will probably be featured in the tabloids tomorrow, Tom!!Oops! As usual, I failed to read the instructions all the way through…
OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE ILLEGAL 3RD NOMINATION OF GARY FOR WHAT-A-KNIFE RECIPIENT:
Due to factors unknown to myself at the time I made the endorsement, I am forced to hereby withdraw my nomination of Gary5K Qs . Though the withdrawal pains me greatly, know that I still count Gary as a friend, and acknowledge his value to the community.

Thanks for the generous GAW, Barrett!
I'm definitely in!
I have LOTS of inexpensive knives, and I like most of them, so coming up with my favorite is a challenge for me. But I'm going to go with this Carlos Quintana taramundi. It's the first of several knives I bought while visiting my daughter in Spain 10 years ago; the knives are wonderful mementos of the Spanish cities she took me to during my visit. I bought the taramundi in a cuchilleria in Sevilla that had been recommended to me by a BF member from Spain while I was planning my trip. The knife has a unique blade shape, the pattern is sort of a friction folder Barlow, and the burnt boxwood handles contain lots of interesting critters to those with vivid imaginations!

What A Knife!!!!! I’m in. Not sure if the Pipe tool qualifies so I also threw in this cool Remington spey. Both knives were picked up at various knife shows for $10.
Thanks for the opportunity, Barrett.

Fun giveaway and those are super neat looking little knives! I’m totally in and happy to participate. Thank you for the opportunity.
I’d say my absolute favorite “cheapy” is this little victorinox florist knife that I keep in my bag every single day to let people borrow when they ask for a knife. Plain synthetic handle of some unknown sort, although it’s a fun color. Great sheepfoot blade for general purpose use. Easy, predictable, pinchable, and smooth action (important for when you’re loaning out to non-knife people). Also it has some cool features like a single bevel grind for some reason… maybe florists like that? While it’s cheap, it’s very sturdy and a great cutter too.
In the name of fun for the contest, I’ll include some whataburger paraphernalia that I “accidentally” borrowed before leaving Texas. Whoops

Very cool write-up on the What-A-Knife and What-A-Saw. Thank you.
I would like to enter for @afishhunter who enjoys inexpensive knives.
My favorite inexpensive knife is the Aitor Castor. I get a kick out of this knife. Aitor pared this knife down to the bare essentials, removing all the features that add to the cost of manufacture without compromising its utility. No bolsters, no shield, no swedges, no nail nick, this knife isn't even stamped. Yet I can't deny that this is a good knife, a tool at its simplest. One day in the future when my daughter sells my knives for a buck each at a garage sale, some lucky bloke is going to buy this and wonder what kind of weird knife he just bought.

My old Kamp King. I have this since my first pocket knife was a Kamp King my Grandfather gave me.View attachment 2859310
After looking at your What-A-Knife thread, I scrolled down and saw this. I’m definitely in.
In my book, for an inexpensive traditional, it’s hard to beat a No 6.

I assume the Rhidian will be third place![]()
What a fun thing to do. Not an entry but there is something special of a simple but functional knife. I’ve been enjoying my Cudeman lockback knife.not fancy, but a keen edge and and made in Albecte, Spain. In Juniper so it has a pepper smell.View attachment 2859862

Thanks for the opportunity!
This was an “inexpensive” forum knife. Long story short I lost my original knife. At the time I was heart broken. Until, Bob aka BigBiscuit reached out to me. He sent me his knife. This really showed me what The Porch was all about.
RIP BOB!!!

My favorite cheap one is an Imperial Ireland fish knife from my late father’s old tackle box. I the old scales had melted some so I took them off and use them as is.

OOPS( B BrotherJim it looks like you also nominated a member who had already been nominated by someone else, so you maybe want to choose a different nominee as well.)![]()
I know, right! It seems everyone and their cousin finds them in old tackle boxes.Hey, I imagine it’ll still do the job.
What is it with grandparents’ tackle boxes and old Imperial knives?![]()
