Does anyone know of any company making good quality BFK anymore? Since Benchmade quit making them for some reason, I can't find any. Also, I'm looking for some good instruction on their use. If anyone knows of a good book or video, please let me know. Thanks everyone.

I know that Rick Hinderer in Ohio will be making some. He also makes his own damascus and mokume and is very adept at folders. I'm hoping to get one of his butterfly knives when he starts them, which he told me should be pretty soon. Not factory knives, customs, that should be fairly affordable.

Jeff Imada has a pretty good video out, and I think that you might be able to get it from Benchmade?

Do a search on butterfly or balisong. There was a message about a site that was selling higher quality butterfly knives from the Philippines. Apparently, US Customs has backed off of the ban to some extent.

Benchmade is planning on producing another high-end production Bali-Song next fall. That
is a long wait though.

The best instructional media I've come across is Michael Janich's video Mastering the Bali-Song Knife. It is available from Paladin press. Do a web search on paladin press.

Jeff Imada's bali-song manuals are pretty good too, but harder to learn from. I think they are available from amazon.com.

Hope this helps.

A little search of the archives here at bladeforums will turn up several recent threads answering this very question.

Well mine are not the best by any means, but for the price they aint bad!

Just click on Dragon Forge below in my sig file. I have new models which will be in tomorrow and will post picks. Mine are copies of Benchmade's now discontinued economy line.

Here is a pic of one.

I've seen some nice pictures of Ralph Turnbull's balisongs. I don't know the prices, but they sure look good.

Two important questions in life:
Do they have a catalog?
Did you know there's a town called "Batman" in Turkey?

Although I'm a big fan of Benchmade/PC balisongs and also the high quality japanese imports from the early 1980's I would not carry one because of the problem replacing them.If I did carry a balisong again for fun/utility or whatevever I probbably would go with one of the readily available Bears,Dragonforge or Jaguars.
