Went for a leisurely walk this weekend to the Lake District. The weather was great for this time of year. Nice sunny day, but quite cool. Hard to imagine that last weekend a months rain fell in a day.

Love the Autumn colours.

This is one place that is DEFINITELY on my list of places to visit. So beautiful.

It's the kind of terrain that I long for after several days backpacking in the east. Most of the time I'm looking at my feet and missing some of the gorgeous scenery. There it looks like you could stroll about and soak in the landscape without worrying about twisting an ankle.

Please post more pics if you have 'em.

Also, is there a permit system or designated campsites in the district? How does one plan a backpacking trip there? What kinds of restrictions are there regarding fires and stuff like that?

I've still got a news grab from the marathon that got called off due to bad weather up there the other week. What a fuss.

Great pics bro !

I have been there numerous times myself and would urge anyone who has not been to visit if you ever get chance, just make sure to pack waterproofs along with your t-shirts and shorts though as they do get their fair share of the wet stuff !!!!

No permit system. I think most of the Lake District is operated by the National Trust and is open access. I am not sure about camping restrictions as I tend to do day trips (lucky to live within a 2 hour drive).
