Button on the Mora 511 sheath

Just picked up a 511, but have no idea what the little plastic nib the juts out perpendicular from the sheath is. Does anyone know if it serves a purpose?

It's to piggyback other Mora's onto it. Look at the back of the belt loop. It has an attachment that matches.
