Camillus is in financial trouble. Instead of talking about all the economic and marketing forces behind it why don't we see if we could give them a little boost. Today would be a good day to buy a Camillus knife. I'm going to find one and buy it within the next couple of hours. Bladeforums has a lot of members and visitors. I would like to see if we could make a difference. See if there is a place in your collection for a Camillus knife. Encourage your friends to do the same thing. It can't hurt.

As a selfish motivation, if you don't buy that Camillus knife now it may get impossible to find later.

Just what I needed: Another reason to buy a BK7. And here I've been trying to talk myself out of it.

I'd buy one of their EDC framelocks if I had money to spare :P

Good idea.

What's their best AO knife? I'll pick one up on the way home tonight.

I don't know if it's the top of the line but the Dominator is a great knife, I paid about 135.00 with the tanto blade. It's not a typical tanto , the spine of the blade sweeps upward slightly.

It will be a pity if Camillus bankrupts.
IMHO one of the best knives on market today is CUDA EDC. I have two :)

Huugh, I'm a big fan of the EDC. I bought one with 154CM blade and one with a D2 blade. I gave the D2 to a real old friend. I've been looking for a local place to buy an EDC with the AUS-8 alloy blade and have struck out. They are so cheap that I wanted to avoid paying shipping. That's the purchase that I have been putting off. This morning I went and ordered two off the internet.

I like all of the Camillus AO's. They have a real snappy opening. Some of their cheaper ones have only partial metal liners and may not be to your taste. I keep one in the pocket of my bathrobe. I got tired of not having a knife after I get out of the shower.

Jeff - Congrats, I think you will be happy with them, they could sell them for twice as much and they still would be a bargain.
I regret that I have missed the D2 EDC. If only they made EDC with it again (and with phospho-bronze washers :)). What more could anyone want? :)

They can't do this to me. I need time to buy a Dominator! That really sucks. My next knife, whenever that may be, will be a Camillus.

The best my local guy had was the Heat lineup so that's what I ended up with. Not a bad knife even though it does have some type of plasticy handle. The only thing I don't like about it right off the bat is the front of the scales by the pivot has two sharpish spots that will tear into your hand when you put it in the pocket with the knife clipped in it. Other than that it's a great blade profile, strong AO, and looks/feels good in the hand. We'll see after a couple of days of carry. Oh ya, why's the sheath so darn BIG?

oil

ps. after putting it in my pocket I noticed the sharp corners are actually on the other side of the knife so it doesn't tear your hand up.

I just opened my Mail box to find the five I bought Wednesday from Sawyer cutlery...2 Heats, 2 Blazes and one Sizzle.....I did my part !!!!!

i'm heading to the smoky mountain knife works next week, had the same plan... i'm gonna pick up some camillus stuff :)

Well, I tried to talk myself into a Becker or Camillus. Unfortunately, I just can't find anything amongst their offerings I really want or can use. I considered the Becker BK7. And reconsidered. And reconsidered again. Great knife for the price, but I think I'd rather save my pennies and spend a bit more than double for the Swamp Rat Camp Tramp. (If I even decide to get a fixed blade like that. So far I've really got my eye on a Spyderco Kumo and a SOG Revolver.) Next I looked at Camillus' folders. The Sizzle looked interesting, but, from what I've read, the Kershaw Scallion looks to be the better knife for about the same price. And I don't need a bigger folder atm--that need was nicely filled by the CRKT S-2.

I just came back from the ALSE (Aviation Life Support Equipment) shop and noticed they were down to their last "Knife, Pilot Survival." He placed an order for an additional 200 pieces.

Camillus has a long history of supplying the US Army with great knives. The most notable being the time tested pilot's survuval knife. But they also provide us with alot of slip joint knives, and they've made quite a few M9 Bayonetes.

I personally have a CQB that stays on my battle -rattle, and other folks have a variety of variety of Cudas and the like.

I hope they can pull out of this.
