Buy a Camillus knife Today!

well I just picked up NGKs last clip point dominator, please nobody tell my GF... there are still max's and Dominators, though mostly tantos, and even an aftermath or two out there at reasonable prices but if Cam goes away that will change pretty quick.. really a pitty as the cuda designs are some of the best production knives out there and there isn't much else like them on the market.

I got my BK-7 from Sportsman's Warehouse when they had a 15% sale on all knives a while ago. That put it in the $45 range.

Well, I do have a couple, one of the old Quick Action CUDA's and a BK-7 Maybe another one too, can't remember. I have been thinking about a Dominator for a while though. Maybe it is finally time.

I highly recomend the CUDA EDC its my EDC and I love it. Maybe I'll use this as an excuse to buy another one.

It is gonna suck if they go out. They make the best production DDR compilations out there. The MAXX and the Dominator are great. I always loved the EDC I had. It was great. I hate to ask because this thread wasn't about the "Why" of it, but what is going on with them? They have had Govt. contracts and have always made nice stuff. WTF?

The "why" of it is that Camillus business is slack. The union contract ran out and they have been working some 4-day work weeks. The new contract proposed by the company has specific allowance for them to run shorter than 40-hour work weeks. The Steelworkers's Union local has rejected that and also complained about changes to the health plan. They have been out on strike for about 10 days.

If Cammilus goes down the tubes, the "why of it" will be due to poor management and ownership, not due to the worker. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I thought you were supposed to boycott companies that are being struck. This is to show solidarity with the strikers and help force management back to the table.

Back in the days when unions enjoyed popular support and respect, I would have completely agreed with it. Unfortunately, unions have evolved (devolved?) into political organizations whose actions frequently offend average American. Hard to win popular support that way.

This will stink if they go under.

I have wanted a dominator for quite some time. In fact it was the first 'mid range' knife that really caught my eye. Due to ongoing health problems and a lack of job I havent been able to buy a knife for quite some time. Maybe I can scrounge up for a heat instead.

Never thought I would have these problems at 26 but I guess nobody does...

I don't think it will matter 'whose' fault it is if they go under -- we will have lost another American manufacturer. We have to support each other in the best way we can.

I have a Cuda Maxx 7.0, it is a great knife. It will be a real shame if they go under. I would like to buy another blade to show my support, but I don't know of any I would really want. The Beckers are ok, I am sure- but I don't need one. I also have purchased 7 or 8 knives within the last couple weeks. Maybe a AUS8 EDC PE, if I can find one. . .

Well, I'm trying to order a Gibbs Maxx from 1sks. I wonder if they're really in stock? Only time will tell. Failing that, I'll get a Madd Maxx bowie for sure. I need to get a real California style folder.

grabbed a 2nd cuda maxx at a crazy price. 86.00 after the stores 20% discount! even if it was going to be 100$ it would have been a bargain.i dont think it helped camillus, but it didnt hurt me!:D

The best my local guy had was the Heat lineup so that's what I ended up with. Not a bad knife even though it does have some type of plasticy handle. The only thing I don't like about it right off the bat is the front of the scales by the pivot has two sharpish spots that will tear into your hand when you put it in the pocket with the knife clipped in it. Other than that it's a great blade profile, strong AO, and looks/feels good in the hand. We'll see after a couple of days of carry. Oh ya, why's the sheath so darn BIG?

oil

ps. after putting it in my pocket I noticed the sharp corners are actually on the other side of the knife so it doesn't tear your hand up.

The Heat is nothing to scoff at. I found the same problem with the sharp corners, but a little quick work with the Dremmel and problem solved. Don't remove them entirely, they are the blade stop, just round them off a little. The "plastic handles" are Zytel which is a very durable material. I have used my Heat heavily and have had no problems with it. The handles show no sign of wear or cracking, and the AUS-8 blade is easy to sharpen yet holds an edge well also, an unusual combo. Camillus did a good job on this one. You should get many years of good use out of it. As to the sheath, I can only shrug my shoulders at that one, good thing for the pocket clip.

As previously stated in response to this post: The end result will be the loss of Camillus Knives.

But as an alternate view, how about a show of solidarity with the owners who are being blackmailed by greedy emplyees? Ya... That was a little strong. I've really cut back on spending, and increasaed savings, because the writing is on the wall. The world economy is getting ready for a drastic upheaval.

Where is a good place to buy Camillus Knives? As in, a retailer in which a purchase (or enough purchases) can be seen by the company?

If I am going to make a difference I want to make it count!
