My man Dave Brown is doing some impressive advanced engineering work these days.

I sent him the modded Mojo shown in the pics below and asked him to make something as trim and light as possible for carry in a pack, but also set up to take a large tek-lok in case I want to carry it on belt. Because of the recurve, I asked if an open-spine rig might be the trimmest option, and if he could make one “taco” style to slim down the profile even more.

What he came up with is amazing--slender and lightweight. Fits like a glove without rattling or binding anywhere. The upper mounting screw for the tek-lok goes through the center of a snap and deploys with or without the tek-lok attached. The retention strap can also be completely removed by securing the knife with a cord through the talon hole. BTW,I don’t know what the material is for the keeper strap, but he used a very tough, reinforced rubber of some kind that has great stretch and enhanced retention and I’m sure will never lose its elasticity or shape like leather would. The word that comes to mind is: “Perfect”

THANKS, BRO! :D

Great looking sheath -and amazing, amazing blade. The handles on that sucker are incredible!

Congratulations to you both. :thumbup::thumbup:

Thank you Will.

I do love when customers help me push the envelope even on my own original design.

It sure was hard to send the Mojo back, that is one awesome blade my friend

+1 for Dave's ESS sheaths!

I have a few pieces of Dave's kydex and all of them are top notch! Though, if I had to pick one it would be my ESS Waki sheath, I love that thing.

Great looking knife Will!

What's that other knife at the top of the first photo? Satin finish?

Amazing work out of Big Dave. . . (Well, he's little to me. . . )

Nice job Dave!!!!

Congrats Will

Awesome score!

I don't think I would have risked sending that knife to Dave.........

After all, he does live very close to Mexico! He could just take that sucker and run! He has the knives and guns, and skills.......He could just anex part of Mexico, and rule like a Pirate/King with all his guns and knives, including a nice Snake handled Modded Mojo!

Well, that is what I would do anyway!

Jeez, Will, you seem to have all the great Busse's !! I really like that one !! Dave did a lovely job on the sheath too:thumbup:

Wow...a great design and suits that Mojo perfectly! Nice score, Will, and great job, David!

Very nice sheath.

And that modded MoJo look so much better without the teeth. Who did that work?

SHBM.

Thanks to all for the kind words. :)

Garth did the fantastic work on the Mojo. Removed the blade catch from the spine and the skull crusher pommel, smoothed the spine to follow the micarta handle contours, and ground back the edge to eliminate the serrations. He thinned out the entire edge since he was back into a thicker cross-section of the blade, then re-coated the blade, polished the spine from point all the way around the handle and back up to the edge, and voila!

I love this knife. Even at .230" spine thickness, this thing now weighs only 15 1/2 oz, or about the same as a Skinny ASH1 even though the Mojo has an 8 1/2" blade. Hard to believe, I know, but this one is flat ground from the spine, where the Skinny is convex ground, and this one now has less weight in the handle. With the weight distribution and handle contours this thing lets you deliver an amazing amount of chopping power forward, and with Dave's sheath the package is truly a lightweight packer and a virtually indestructible back-country blade.

Garth also did the work on the SHBM at the top of the first pic. It was a user with no damage and no signs of abuse, and he did a masterful job on the satin finish. He even kept/restored the asym edge, which makes this a very cool piece IMHO. Here’s a better peek at Garth’s handiwork:
