Buy Brown: At the Edge of the Envelope

Isn't it great to get exactly what you ask for and then some? Nice work David! A perfect custom sheath for a beautiful custom Mojo.

Brother Will, Dat's a beee-uuuu-teeee-fulll blade, yessir!!! And the Brown-meister came up with a nice lookin' pair of britches for it to boot. Light and long -- sounds like a good beer or a great woman. ;) :D

I don’t know what the material is for the keeper strap, but he used a very tough, reinforced rubber of some kind that has great stretch and enhanced retention and I’m sure will never lose its elasticity or shape like leather would.
Looks like it might be one of Blade-Tech's Pull-The-Dot straps. If it is, if you look on the snap cover it'll say "pull dot" or some such verbiage and has a small dimple that is the dot. Here's a pic of the inside of the straps, showing the corrugations that incline it to bend at the right place.

Looks kind of familiar....did you do this one too David?

I did do that one too, The exposed spine sheath is a Buy Brown Original.

The straps are made by me out of boiler gasket material, strong stuff.

Yes, Dave is very good at coming up with unique solutions. I wanted the equivalent of an open spine sheath for a nuclear TTKZ, which was a bit of a trick to do safely and this is what I had the opportunity to watch him make at the shop. This design can even be used without the strap, but the compromise is "it will scratch your satin" which is fine for a user. It works great!

its the most prefect blade I have ever seen! i can't even wrap my head around the fact that it's a one off custom shop job. its kind of heart breaking in a way but just to knowing it exists gives me a little bit of joy.

i know it's a long shot but man i pray to the knife gods...

and i have a BB open spine sheath for my M9LE... all I can say is that DB really knows his way around some kydex. open spine is a great design. and it looks like the perfect math for that pefert knife!

The pic you linked to was actually of my original Muddy Mojo photoshopped to show Garth what I wanted--which he obviously duplicated beautifully. All you have to do is find one of those (search for "Muddy" in the Busse Exchange) and send it in to Garth for the same treatment. Readily doable. :thumbup:

The three things in particular that make the Muddy Mojo my favorite model as a point of beginning, besides the handsome colors, are:
1) .230" blade thickness which is strong but not too heavy;
2) Full flat grind for cutting efficiency plus light weight/agility in hand; and
3) The Euro style handle, which to me is a more comfortable/versatile grip than the E-handles found on most of the Mojo/Mofo models.

i stared at that pic for no telling how long and never picked up that it was a chop. they did an amazing job with those ideas. even though is nothing over the top its one of the best custom shop mods ive ever seen imho.

that knife came out perfect and I have been thinking about the road to aquiring and modding one. the muddy mojos are so nice as is that it would be hard to commit one to a mod without some heavy use first. and i kinda like the serrations even though i see the improvements in the mod. and even though I'm completely convinced it's worth it I still would have to stomach the coin.

but when i can i think im going to follow resinguys lead and hunt down a eu mojo. hope one day to work my way into a muddy modjo.
