This should probably go in Cheers, but it is directly Busse related, so it's here. Let me know if I should move it.

If anyone is wondering whether they should go to David Brown for a Kydex sheat...stop wondering and order it.

I had David make me a small Kydex with Tek-lock for a Skelly warden, and it is FANTASTIC. THe skeletons and similar knives have a tough time with retention, I have found, and I didn't want any clips or snaps, just push it in, and it'll stay. The sheath showed up, and it is EXACTLY what I wanted. I e-mailed David on Friday looking for a tracking number, but instead, the knife was in my mailbox when it got home.

Perfect sheath for this small knife, which is now my small fixed EDC when outdoors. Well, at least until my Badger gets here....

Thanks David, great work! But I have a feeling I'm not telling anybody here anything they don't already know.

Funny, I was just reading the PiterM thread about his Bad Warden sheath and I was thinking I should get a Kydex for my Skelly, and there your post was.

But............WE NEED PICS!

Glad to help! I should be able to get some pics up tonight. It was a busy weekend (very good, but busy).

He didn't have a skeleton warden, so I did have to send him my knife.
I sent it in to him on January 17, and got it back on the 16th of February, so less than a month total trunaround. Not bad at all for a knife that he had never worked with.

Get flames cause they're cooooooooooool  :D

I'll do some looking, but David has done some wicked cool skeleton key sheaths that would look cool for a Warden

Dayum! Nice sheaths!
Mine isn't nearly that cool. It is a thing of beauty, but it is so becaus eI find function beautiful. Not flashy, just does its job really well. Of course, I only have a few trail hours under my belt with it, but I have no doubt it will continue to perform admirably.

Yup, Dave bends some fine plastic.

This does belong in GB&U.

Glad you brought it to us man!!

I am looking for ideas for my mud skelly. I was thinking about a kydex with a boot clip. I also was worried about retention of the sheath especially as a boot knife. Anybody using one as a boot knife?? J

manix J... If you mean the knife's retention in the sheath, it will be secure if you go with Buy Brown

The knife is secure. He did a really cool little "lip" over the first opening in the handle area that clicks in solidly when the knife is put in, and requires just enough effort to pull out to be comfortable with the retention, without feeling like you REALLY have to yank. I mean it...it is the best work in Kydex I have experienced...and I have some DAMN fine Kydex, IIDSSM.
As for how secure a boot clip would be, I have ZERO expereince in that area, so will not hazard a guess.

i second that. david is a great partner to deal with

and eat.............and drink...............;)

thank you david.

Arne

The sheath sounds like what I'm looking for and I have heard good things from everyone about Buy brown. Now I wonder if I still have to send my knife out for my order or will David have the specs from the previous sheath?? Well I guess I'll have to ask him when my skelly arrives in the next couple of days!! All the best!! J
