Buy now for Black Friday, or wait for SHOT Show 2017?

I'm in the market for a CRK or higher-end ZT. Do you all think it's worth going for a Black Friday special, or do you think it's worth holding out until January to see if any new models are announced at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas?

I'd be less-than-excited to get an Umnumzaan or ZT 0392, only to find out in January that they're releasing a new pivot/blade shape/scale material/limited edition/whatever that I like better.

Is SHOT a common place for announcing new and upcoming knives? Is it worth forgoing any favorable holiday pricing? I've never really paid attention to knives announced at SHOT so I'd welcome any thoughts on the topic.

Without getting too personal I think it depends on you and your financial situation. If you can afford to pay full price later then wait. But if your wanting to get something on sale because you can't really afford full price then go that route. Get the best you can afford.

Buy what you want, I just bought a ZT 801BW, that model is discontinued, but I bought because I like it, just ordered a XM Fatty, probably Hinderer will start using M390 for all models, but thats the one I wanted, just buy what you like and can afford without hurting your finances, if not, just save up a bit, you'll enjoy it much more

You actually bring up a good point and speaking of I have also been wanting to pick up a zaan or xm 18 or smf. Still haven't decided yet.

Do you know of anywhere that is actually offering sale prices on CRK or Hinderers or Striders?

Buy the Zaan now. If you find something you like better at the SHOT SHOW, buy it and sell the Zaan. Or, you can buy the higher-end ZT for about half the price of the CRK. Depends on what you like. ZT makes something for everybody.
That's the routine that many of us follow. It's worked for me so far.
