I got in a half dozen or so village models that I don't like so much. The blades are a little too soft for my liking. I figure around 50 Rc and I think the edge might roll if you go into hard wood hot and heavy. I tried a couple on Yangdu's oak cutting board and the edge didn't roll but the sharpness was gone after 3 or 4 good hits to the wood.
These villagers look okay and feel okay. Scabbards are okay. Frogs are okay. But I don't want to sell them or guarantee them. I would not buy one myself so I'd not expert anybody else to buy them either. But if somebody gave me one free I'd take it and use it until it went kaput and then toss it into the trash or use it for spare parts so that's what I'm going to do with these.

This will have to be a forumite offer only since I don't want to get into village models on my shopping site.

So, anyway, that's the notice. Next half dozen or so orders that come in from forumites gets a free village model.

Hi Uncle Bill,
what if we go with something such as a Kagas Katnae(sp)???

:
Well you could use it like Uncle Bill says or you could grind a gut hook into it and use it to remove the coffee pot from the campfire, or you could put it in the coals of the campfire and when it got to a nice orange red pour some water down the edge making it what it should be.

Bro I would go for it, but the funds are short right now.

Indin word for lousy hunter.

Uncle Bill you must be one of the fastest men in these here parts! I remember once
aggressively using a knife to cut some meat
on my (now) exwife's Maple cutting board.
Leaving slices and gouges in the wood. I'd just as soon rather sand-paper a bobcat's ass in a phone booth than relive THOSE next few hours again!!!
That, or, as I suspect, Yangdu is just a cool person.

If you're serious about this Uncle Bill, I'll take a kagas katne.

Well I just got a kagas katne (my 2nd) and my 12" Villager (wood handle, AK blade) and must say it's nice. Rough finish but nice, I've had a 22" Villager which was more refined overall in terms of blade, handle, and sheath. My Villager doesn't have the chakma and karda, no problem as I've started a touch up job with my Spyderco Double Stuff sharpener. For the deal I got, this is a good deal for the newbie on a budget.

My Kagas Katne is slightly off center but good for it's purpose; cutting paper. This time I have the horn handle, the overall smoothness was nice, you BAS owners know what I mean. The Kagas Katne is a better throwing knife than the Villager which hits then bounces off, then again I throw indoor.

The only real weaknesses with my set were the sheathes, the KK sheath was a little loose and the blade would drop out an inch upside down. The Villager would drop out halfway and completely with a good shake. I personally like kydex for the KK but feel leather is good investment for the Villager.

Hi Greg and welcome to the Cantina.

Your best price is $25 -- you get the kagas katne for $15, pay a shipping cost of $10 and get the villager free. It's about 14 or 15 inches and a pound. Or check out the shopping site, pick a khukuri and you get it for list price and the villager free.
