I just got my first Rat knife and its an Izula. First off I can now see why its such a popular little knife. much smaller then I thought it would be but I still love it. From experience do you guys think you get a better grip on the knife from a nice paracord wrap on the knife or from the scales. Im sorry if this has been discussed in a previous thread but I didn't see anything on it.

personally i would go with the scales. i really like them on mine

Had the very same question this weekend after ordering my Izula. I figure I would try the paracord, have plenty laying around, and if it didn't do it for me I'll try the scales.

I like the scales on mine, however I may get another and just try the cord wrap.

I prefer the paracord. Sit's more slimly in my kit. It's a small knife, both ways provide inadequate grip (compared to something larger). With cordage, you can make it as thick as you want.

Either way, its an Izula, you can't go wrong.

Para-cord will give a better more secure purchase in the hands. The scales at least for me were too thick and too short for the knife. The scales are the same thickness as the rc-3 and 4, just too thick for the Izula blade IMO. Also para-cord makes the knife very concealable and comfortable to carry. My vote is for the cord.

Unless you are going to get it bloody or stuff like that, they paracord is the way to go. It is much more comfortable to me.

That said, being that I am in grease and stuff a lot at work, my EDC Izula sports the scales. I dont really care for the feel too much, but I love the durability and ease of cleanup.

Really, you cannot go wrong either way. Try the cord, if you dont like it, order the scales.

PS. You guys both have such pretty little princess hands.:D

I've had mine wrapped and haven't had a problem with it but I've decided to try the scales soon. You can always turn around and sell them to someone else if you don't like them.
