I've been buying the model 806 Sack-Ups for nearly a year and highly recommending them on BF.

I use them to store my collection of folders and sometimes for protection when pocket-carrying them.

These little grey sacks are simply great!

But the products in my latest order -- Dec. 2011 -- are different: these Sack-Ups look like a pale imitation of my previous orders.

The new Sack-Ups are thinner -- both in the width of the sack and thickness of the material.

Because they are so thin, they are less protective of knives or tools.

Because they are not as wide as the originals, they can only be used for smaller knives; I was lucky to get a thin Spyderco Delica to fit. Anything larger would be a stretch -- literally.

Don't try using this current thinner version for a Delica Wave, for example.

I contacted the Sack-Ups manufacturer but received no response.

I contacted the retailer, who said he doesn't sale fakes or knockoffs and assured me that these are genuine. He said I could return them. But that doesn't solve my problem -- I still need something for protection and storage.

Please bring back the old Sack-Ups!

Meanwhile, a major disappointment -- buyer beware!

Follow-up:

I just opened the last three packages of Sack-Ups from my December order. One package of six pouches contains the good, old version of the 806 (hooray!), while the other two packages look like they contain a combination of the old and the new, thinner version.

As of this writing, Amazon has "closed" sales of this product.

Also as of this writing, the manufacturer still appears to be selling online.

What this means, I don't know -- the manufacturer has never responded to emails asking what happened to its products.

Had a moderator seen this thread, he would have moved it from the original forum, Knife Reviews & Testing.
Since no moderator saw it, the request to move it was useless. When in doubt, please ask in Tech Support.
