Made my first sale on the exchange a week or so ago and despite multiple attempts the buyer said he was unable to leave feedback. Is there any way to address that? Some feedback would be helpful.

The buyer has to post in the the exchange thread in order to post feedback, which they haven't done. The issue is probably your wording for winning "First PM with payment will be the new owner.", which would preclude anyone posting in the thread.

I think a simple post form the buyer in the thread thanking you for the item would allow them to then leave feedback.

Thank you sir. Like I said, still working out the kinks. Next time I'm going the "reply to this post and send a PM" route.

That's not it. To leave feedback all you need to do is click under the person's avatar where it says "Add Feedback." Then you select if you are a buyer or seller, and copy and paste the link to the sale thread.........done! In my experience quite a few people did not leave me any feedback, I contribute it to laziness, or lack of know how.

On the contrary, Noah's post is correct. Both parties have to have posted in the sale thread. There are numerous discussions about this in the Tech Support section. Here's one of them:

ndmiller and Railsplitter are correct. That changed when BF switched to a new website host.

As others have said. he just needs to leave any sort of post in the thread, then the new system will allow him to leave feedback. He will need the shortcut link to the thread also. The new software makes you go through a few steps to leave feedback and is not as simple as the old, but this is reasonable since the feedback was part of the old software.

Thanks for the clarification.

Correct. This happened to me as a buyer last week; couldn’t post feedback on a transaction made via PM. It said “invalid link” for the sale thread I copied & pasted into the feedback area but the link was accurate. Looked closer & it also stated ‘buyer & seller both have to post in the thread’ - that was the issue not the link. After posting a simple “I’ll take it” I was able to leave feedback.

I believe the thread can not be locked either or it will not allow feedback to be left.

That would be incorrect... just had a member leave me feedback after I locked the thread.

I'll second that. I always close (aka lock) my sale threads as soon as I receive payment from the buyer. Never had any problems with feedback exchange on my locked threads before or after the software upgrade.

I've read a comment or two stating that there was a very brief period, less than a week, during the software migration when the thread did in fact need to be open for feedback exchange to take place. I think this might be why some folks assume it's still the case.

Ok, I remember when the new software migration happened I wasn’t able to leave or receive feedback because a sales thread was locked, even when we had both posted in it. I wasn’t aware that it had changed.

The buyer has to post to give feedback, but a lot of people don't remember feedback now, the new system doesn't give you a notification of new feedback. That's how I made sure I left feedback on the old system. A quick reminder usually helps.
