Buyer's Remorse

How about sellers remorse? I had bought a Case mini Copperlock, amber scales, and decided I didn't want it. Sold it, then decided I did want it. Now, I bought an older one off of eBay.

Oh yeah, all of the other knives I have bought and now selling for less than what I paid for them in the KE!

I've got to be the world's worst at this. I have all these criteria for finding the perfect knife for me to do ??? with. Has to have this steel, that handle material, maybe a certain kind of blade style, or sheath, this overall length, that handle shape. I make lists, compare every variable of suitable knives, and then impulsively buy something that has nothing in common with what I really want just because it's cool, or I always wanted one. I notice that I end up going back to the same knives that were well-chosen, over and over. I've bought dozens of knives over the last few years, many of which were sold, traded, or added to the growing pile of beaters, while I find myself back to carrying and using the same ones I did 2-3 years ago, and still plotting to buy even more.
I have a problem.

But I'm ok with it:D

What i may say is: I am glad to go to local knife shows. I can handle many knifes i had heard of and up to 95% or a bit more i see i don´t want them.

OK in the first year there were some buys at a second, like the SR Bandicoot.

The most surprising thing is, that by heart i fell in love with the AFCK model but my hand and eye always says 520.

I know or can feel with you, Owen M. It is the most disturbing to have too many points of choice.

It's a bit like buying art , the more you know the more discriminating you get , and you end up with fewer and better pieces . Really good pieces are hard to top , so you buy fewer. With your other stuff , sell it , gift it , or best yet trade it .

I regret the one's I've let go more than any of the ones I've bought: Gerber Mark I, 70s vintage Buck 110 and 120 General (I was original owner of the three).

I'm still in the buy everything phase, but I feel I'm settling down a bit. I see a Gold membership in the near future, and a sell off of the ones I don't use.

You hit the nail on the head for me. When I first started to get heavily into knives I would buy anything that caught my eye and I had the money for. Most of those pieces are gone or in the process of being sold. Now I mainly concentrate on nicer pieces from a few select makers.

Oh, the obvious solution, participate in more passarounds!

Though I will say anything OTHER then Spyderco is not that well represented.
