Hello knife afficianatos,

I am a blade noob so I could use some advice. It will soon be my father in law's birthday and I would like to buy him a nice gift. I was thinking a knife and I have a 300$ - 400$ budget. I'm still not certain a fixed blade or a folder. The folder would be more practical but the fixed blade more impressive I think.

Anyhow I would love some suggestions for that price point. I'm looking for a traditional wood and leather look over the black coated military modern blades.

I have been researching different companies like Blackjack and Bark river. I have been seriously considering Fallkniven for their NL 4 fixed blade or the PXL folder. I am just not certain if there is not other options that offer more at that price point.

So if you could suggest your idea of the best 400$ traditional folders and the best 400$ fixed blade knives.

Thanks!!!

I'd recommend a Sebenza from CRK. You can even make it more special and find one that has his birthdate! Might not have enough time for that though.

I would 100% recommend a Sebenza. I love mine and think every knife snob should own at least one. (Or give one in this case)
