Buying A Knife...need Help!!!!!!!

how about...
Becker Knife & Tool Companion
Camillus/Terzuola CQB-1
Camillus Pilot Survival Knife

I can't recommend KA-BARs because they aren't even current mil-spec! It's all just hype, the real "KA-BAR" is the Camillus Marine Combat, Camillus has been making these for the US Military since the '40s and has been constantly updating them to the latest spec - The Pilot Survival Knife is basically the Camillus equivalent of the "Short KA-BAR", but sadly, is unavailable with Kraton handles - whether or not this is the end of the world is up to you.
my personal vote goes to the BK&T companion, it only costs like $65 and is extremely strong, I believe it has a full-tang design using .230" stock givin' you lotsa steel behind that little 4 incher.
Lastly the CQB-1, goto the Camillus website and see, it's the most expensive of those listed, weighing in at around $100, but it is a very nice design for most any application.
Good luck!

Becker CAMPANION, with a C-A-M-P in it; a great knife; it's actually a bit longer than a 5" blade: all the internet sites borrowed their info~ from one another, & it's wrong info.... 5" IS enough to chop with, & this thing weighs "about" a full pound: the older BlackJack ones were at least a pound, as they were 1/4" and semi-convexual-ground, ie: Lotsa-Metal!
You won't go wrong with it: and its handle is extreme in comfort: you won't want to put it down.
It's "looks" will impress you ONLY the more you USE it! ;)
It's "Tuf Enuf," that when i first got it, i thought maybe it was a Busse in disguise (which is The Toughest at ANY price...)
Sharpens easier than ANY knife i've ever owned, to face-hair shaving in a few strokes: amazing. (Camillus do make knives, indeed...)
Of course, if you want something that's guaranteed to NOT fail you, you should spend the extra bucks & acquire a Busse; the price will only phase you for a few moments: but it'll pass away...
the Knife won't.

If I were looking for a stainless utility knife for under $100, the Norweigian Helle Safari would be my likely choice. It has a laminated Sandvik blade which is just under five inches, and unlike most Scandinavian knives, an ample lower guard. The price at Ragweed Forge is $68 plus shipping.
