and have narrowed my choices too the BM Mini-Ruckus, Mini-Dejavoo, Spyderco Paramilitary, or the Mini Manix. One of these knives will fit into my light duty EDC rotation, which consists of a Spyderco Delica 4(my heavy use knife), a BM Grip 551, and a Spyderco Native which are my light duty, after work/weekend EDC's. Not that they are light duty knives, it's just that they are my newest so I don't want to get them marked up just yet.

I'm strongly leaning towards either the Ruckus or Dejavoo, just because the Para looks and seems to have similar ergo's as my Delica. Anywyas I'm interested in hereing other owners /users opinions as well as other blades I maybe overlooking.

Thanks

I would go with the Rukus because the Axis lock is BM's premier lock system, I have heard rumors of their liner locks may be slightly weak but, the dejavoo is on of their best folders great balance. You should also consider the 710, larger but very useful and strong.

I certainly wouldn't say a Para has similar ergos to a Delica. The Delica is very contoured and the Para has a choil. Not to mention that the Para has a completely flat ground blade vs. a sabre on the Delica.

I own a mini-ruckus. AWSOME knife(axis lock the best ever ) but not sure about the blade steel. I think S30V will end up as a knife steel mistake.

I can highly recommend the Spyderco Para-Military. It is small enough to be confortable to carry and is extremly stong (both the blade and the lock).

Good luck

Go ahead and pick up that mini-Manix, you will not be disappointed IMO. The knife is made for abuse and can probably be found for the cheapest on your list.

I prefer lockbacks, and it seems like you do as well with the D4 and Native.

I rotate both the Mini Rukus and the Mini Manix for my EDC. I love them both. The liners on the Rukus are thicker than on the Mini Manix. Most will agree that the Mini Manix feels like a tank, but the Mini Rukus feels even more solid. I love both with a little more towards the Mini Manix because of ergos. I wasn't very impressed with the Dejavoo and I'm not a fan of the liner lock, though it wouldn't be my primary deciding factor in choosing a knife. I think the Dejavoo would be a fine gents knife. The Axis is a great locking mechanism (and very fun), but people tend to forget that the backlock has been proven over a significantly longer time than the axis. And as simple as it may seem, there's something about the Spyderco Mid Lock that I love and find very fun to play with. I love the Para Military, though I haven't done anything with one except open and close a few times.

You Sir, have done your research, you can't lose with any of these choices. Personally it would be between the Mini Manix, the Mini Rukus and the Para Military. That's as far as I can help you.

I have a 615. It's a great light dutty knife. Allthough it can handle much more. It is built like a tank, but carrys very well.

I own a mini-ruckus. AWSOME knife(axis lock the best ever ) but not sure about the blade steel. I think S30V will end up as a knife steel mistake.

This confuses me as many of the best knife making companies in the world are using S30V steel in their premium knives. I realize this is an ongoing debate but how many years of excellent service would you expect to get out of a knife before you call it a mistake?

I'm not crazy about any of them. I love the Para, except for the lock. I really liked the Dejavoos I had, except for the liner lock. The full size Rukus was too gangly for me, maybe it will be different with a mini. I have a full size Manix, the mini would be too small for me. If you can carry a large folder, I would pick up a Millie.

I've narrowed the knives down to the mini Ruckus or the Mini Manix. I prefer the Axis lock, as well as the back locks. I'm in construction so whatever the knife I chose will have to be ready for rugged use, I'm not sure if liner locks will hold up. I'm leaning towards the Ruckus as I really like the Axis lock, as I'm having a blast flicking my Griptillian, but the Manix maybe a little more robust with it's back lock? I'm sticking with the mini's since the full size aren't to sheeple friendly, and I don't need a blade any longer than 3.5"-3.75".

Thanks

I doubt that you will find a stronger small folder than the Mini-Manix, Dave. I have one and they are built like a tank. That said, I prefer the Para-Military.

The Para-Military is lighter for pocket carry; it is an open frame for ease of cleaning; the top of the blade is straight, which may be used to scrape things as well; and the Para uses a compression lock, which is next to impossible to accidentally release. Don't get me wrong, I like the Mini-Manix too, but the Para seems like an easier EDC.

again...lol. I do like the way the Delica 4 carries. Now it looks like I'll put the Para back into the mix. For some reason I think I'll be getting all these knives down the road.

Choosing between the mini-Manix, Para Millie, or mini-Rukus?

You can't go wrong there. The real deciding factor now should be: price and ergos. The Manix and Para can be found for $20 or $30 less than the Rukus IIRC. Besides that, I know this might not be possible but try to handle the knives and choose whatever feels best.

Like you said though, you'll probably get them all eventually so no big deal ;)

and ordered a Mini-Dejavoo from New Graham knives..the price got my attention, and I pressed the send button. I recieved it yesterday and I'm pretty impressed:thumbup: although I wasn't at first:barf: When I first started playing with it, it had a tiny bit of blade play, I was almost ready to repack it up but after flicking it a few times the lockup grew tighter:D It must be something with the parts wearing in. Now it's solid as a rock, and smooth as butter...very happy. It's role will be my weekend EDC, but today it went to work with me, and it handled the task very well albeit very light tasks, as it's still too new to mar the blade...lol.

Also all your recommendations didn't go to waste... I bought a LNIB Para military of the for sale page..it should arrive next week..I'm looking forward to it's arrival.

One more purchase..OK maybe two and it will be either the HK14205, Ritter Grip, and the Mini Manix...hmmm maybe all three...lol.
