Can anyone recommend any retail cutlery stores that carry auto knives in Seattle or Portland? I'm making a road trip there next week. In the late nineties I found a brick and mortar knife store in downtown Portland that carried all the Benchmade models, but it's probably gone now. I'm hoping to find some hidden gems like Lone Wolves or Vallottons up there. Plus it's always nice to see and handle knives before you buy them.

The "brick and mortar" stores in downtown Portland, no longer exist. If you go to Andy and Bax on old 99E north (SE of Burnside street) you can find a large selection of Benchmade knives. Further SE on 99E go to the Northwest Armory. They also have a good selection of auto knives.

I hope this helps.

Hawthorne Cutlery on east Hawthorne street in Portland is a good place to go as well. (closed Sundays though.)

I have yet to hit Andy and Bax, somehow though I always wind up over at the Lovecraft. :D

knives ship free in Hillsboro has by far the largest selection of knives in the area.

it might have the largest selection on the west coast, i dont know but it would not surprise me. huge selection of auto knives, customs, stuff you usually would never even be able to handle before buying.

great place and a supporting vendor to boot.

Hillsboro is just west of portland via HWY 26. absolutely worth the drive

I hate to dissapoint you, but their "brick and mortar" store has closed.

They did not close, they moved from downtown Hillsboro to off Cornell road just past the Albertsons (if you are heading west) across from the Burgerville.

Smaller showroom but rent is much cheaper(I suspect) and parking is much easier(can confirm)

I was there in store on Thursday July 9th 2015.

Knives ship free is moving out of Oregon. They will be gone by Labor Day.

Wow. Just called and spoke to them. I had no idea. Moving to the Midwest. That's terrible.

They will be open until they move but man, that's a bummer for us in the northwest.
