I have two quick questions about buying wood-handled Bark River knives online from such sites as Knives Ship Free, DLT Trading, Crystal Falls Trading, Knife Connection, etc. Are the knives shown in the photos the actual knife you'll be receiving, or just a knife like the one you'll be receiving? As I'm discovering, you can go nuts trying to decide which handle to get but after all the obsessive knife porn surfing (what me obsessive?) I'd like to know that the knife I finally decided on is the one that will be shipped. This is obviously not an issue for micarta/G-10 handles--only for handles made from wood and other natural materials.

Also, does Bark River do special orders (of knife model and handle material) directly or through the sites above?

Thanks for any info anyone can provide.

I'd recommend you email the folks at Knives ship free and discuss your issue which I think is a good one.

The last Q first:
You always place Your specialorder through the dealer, even if You get a confirmed reply from BR.

Some of the knives with special burls or woods, are exposed as "You get what You see".
Wich ones exactly, are often difficult to see from the pic's.
To determine what knife You will eventually get can be difficult, but an email to the dealer will clear things up.

I would say it's up to Your preferred Dealer to inform You about "How to get the right offerings".
However Bark River take pics of almost every fancy handle they do and many are availible on-line by simply Google what You are looking for.

Regards
Mikael

Fancy burls are always the exact knife. Others, watch for a numeral after the title--that will tell you you are getting that specific knife. :)

At least that is how it works at KnivesShipFree

^ Yep, what Derrick said, and he should know. :) KSF has also been very helpful when I've had questions that needed verified before the order.

Thanks all--and Derrick--for clearing things up. Too many beautiful Bark Rivers to choose from!
