Buying First Benchmade: 530 or mini-griptilian?

You made a good choice. The 530 is great for IWB carry while playing sports or exercising, one of the lighter knives on the market.

530!!!! Best knife they ever made (besides the rift) :D
You picked a good one, thats a great price too :)

...not trying to be an anti-griptite, but I had a full sized griptilian when I was in the service, and I was always conscious of the handle traction as it was seated in my pocket...my pocket became useless because the grip seemed to tear at my skin. :beaten:...these are not sensitive hands.

So I've been carrying this knife for the past 2 days and I absolutely love the weight (lack thereof) and thin profile of the knife, but have noticed the edge is not nearly as sharp as many of my other carry knives (again although I bought it from a friend it was nib). The secondary bevel is pretty obtusely ground, I know only spyderco rocks that 5 degree shallower angle but the actual relief edge on this guy is very short. Even my kershaw and buck knives have a wider secondary bevel/sharper edge, is this common to benchmade or is this specific knife just a little bit of a dud? It's not a big deal, I'm a pretty proficient sharpener and I'm sure I can put a nicer edge on it, I'm just curious if this is a common benchmade shortfalling. Maybe I'm just getting spoiled by my spydies. Thanks again for all the shared knowledge!
