I just noticed this post. I'm sorry. I certainly don't think you're the type who's afraid of traveling, Nasty! I was just trying to express the way the Nepalese can set you at ease. It is, really, as much a caution as a reassurance. Caution is required everywhere--and those who rely on fear to motivate their caution and awareness will find it easy to be reckless and heedless in Nepal.
I'm with you on wanting to clean house in a few corners of the world!
