hey folks,

me and two friends are going to travell to the united states in late august for 3 weeks. our plan is to visit cities like n.y., philly, washington d.c., san francisco and probably sacramento. i have allready been to n.y. and san francisco and i was very disappointed concerning the selection of knife stores. has anybody an idea if i will find a good knife shop in the other cities?
thank you in advance!!!

Try TAD Gear in San Francisco. Nothing outside a mall in Sacramento that I am aware of.

You have obviously overlooked one of NYC`s best (but little-known) treasures:
Three Little Indians Custom Knives & Cigar Shop, located at 192 Grand St., right in the heart of Little Italy....you can get a great Italian meal (or if Chinese food is your preference, Chinatown is right across Canal St.), then go shopping for knives and fine cigars after dinner.

Also visit the Spy Shop in San Francisco on 555 Beach Street.

No real point visiting Sacramento, if you want to travel north of San Francisco, head straight to Napa, unless you want to go camping/hiking in Humboldt County.

Paragon at Union Square in Manhattan is decent, but expensive. The good thing is that the turn over can be slow, so sometimes you can spot a discontinued model in their current selections.

honestly i have yet to see one good knife store in philadelphia so far. there might be some but i have yet to see it.

only place i seen so far is tanner's in warminster, pa (20 min from philly) but u can find the knives a lot cheaper on the net and there selection wasn't that big. maybe a case

If your taste includes custom knives seek out Fred Eisen Leather in New Hope (Philadelphia Suburb). He has an large inventory of customs as well as quality productions i.e. Gold Class Benchmade, rare Spydercos, Queen, Schatt & Morgan, MCusta et al.

It is figuratively an "oasis in the desert".

Hrmm... knife stores in SF that don't overcharge... good luck. We be Knives has a good selection, but their prices... wow. Right in Pier 39, only a few blocks from the aforementioned spy shop.
Zero

i would never think that a knife shop like that would be up there. that;s more of a high class area.. weird. does he have stock of other knives or just customs?

Philly, NY D.C. SF, Sac? You should worry about bringing a knife and some mace. Get yourself a CCW Permit as well. :)

Actually sounds like fun. Can you run fast. Wear sneakers. LOL

napa? do you mean napa valley or the town called napa? thanks for this advice :)

I might have to trek into town and drool all over the floor of this shop.

:):):)

thanks for all your advice...i'm looking for shops selling knives like benchmade, kabar, spyderco,... at a quite affordable price point. travelling (while beeing a student) ain't cheap so i have to keep an eye on the budget ;). but three little indians seems to be worth visiting (even if their knives most likely are to expensive for me)!!!

Hey, I only live 15 minutes from New Hope!!! But I'm in Cincinnati until August 15th. Don't buy everything before I get there!!

Sacramento sucks for knife stores along with everything else. I am wondering why you would waste time even coming here. Maybe you are just planning to drive through on the way to Tahoe?

Both can be fun. I actually am rather local to the area- let me know if you're in town, I might be able to show you some good trails, though I'm more of a mountain biker. I'm a little outside, up a mountain, but very close. Be nice to meet another knife knut!
