I'm looking to purchase a buck knife for my boyfriend who just started collecting folding knives. I'm looking to spend between $100-$200. I'd use it for everyday use, camping, and occasional hunting. What are your favorite buck knives in this price range? Thanks.

110 if he has large hands. 112 if he has smaller hands and he likes a belt knife.

If he wants a pocket clip knife then look into the Vantage line.

The Paradigm would also be a great gift!

All will be well under the price range you mentioned, you can always upgrade within the line later if you wish.

Welcome to the Buck forum!!

I would go to Bucks website and order up a custom shop 110! He will love that! Or Paradigms are great.... Vantages....

These guys have given you some good knives to look at. I think the best all around knife for EDC & hunting is the Buck AG 110 at cableas. It's the best knife for the price IMHO.

How long does it take for a custom shop 110? I looked into that and the website said 4-6 weeks. I'd like to have this for him by Dec 28th.

He won't want to use a custom shop knife, they are to pretty. Get him a Buck Vantage, (avid or Pro) he will love it. The Paradime it fun but not something he'll want to carry every day. Or you can get him a real mans knife, 301 Stockman (or 303/307) these are my personal faves.

For your budget you can get a lot of 110.... or any Buck! A 118 is a GREAT all around fixed blade..If you look for steels like S30V,BG42,D2 there is both value and collectability.

Yeah, thats probably not an option then. They can take up to that long, but lately have been sooner. Probably still after the 28th would be my bet though.

I use my custom shop knives. I really enjoy using them actually :D I EDC my Paradigm also :D Your mileage may vary I guess ;)

I agree with JB on this one . Its a very good knife value and carries with it free life time sharpening . Plus, ordering the Alaskan Guide from Cabela's you can have it at your door in 4-5 days and your shopping worries are over . Then later for his birthday or special occasion order the Custom 110 allowing you more time for its arrivial . DM

Wow, 100-200 bucks you can have about 95%. How bout a Mayo or an Alpha Hunter. A custom shop knife would be great but time wont allow it for Christmas day. I wish I had a girlfriend(or wife, since I'm hitched) that wanted to give me a 100-220 buck Buck.

It took 2 weeks to get my last custom shop 110.It is worth the wait though, they do beautiful work!

Why not order him a custom 110, and also buy him a production 110 to wrap up for under the tree. He will never forget who bought him the custom, it will be something he treasures.

If the custom show up in time, great. If not, it will be like a second Xmas.

Wow-great idea chop. You can get a pretty dang fancy Custom for 170 and then go to wallys and pick up a $30 110.

Two excellent knives. I would be completely tickled to receive either as presents. Get both and still be within your price range and you will be destined to live for a thousand years in the memory of the recipient.

OK I'd pick up a AG110 from Cabela's AND and a Vantage Pro. Both these have S30V and are both excellant knives!!

Get him a 110 for camping and outdoor adventures. An a yellow scaled 301 or 303 for everyday carry. Then no matter what, he has a present from you on his person. And he will be always reminded of your special gift.

Man, I should have you guys e-mail knife suggestions to my wife ... Trouble is I couldn't trust you to 'NOT' tell her the other stuff . ;) DM

So what your saying is , you want me to email your wife and tell her your 'Special' ?

If you all are into telling wives how special we are because we collect knives instead of hangovers, put me on the list.
