I just went with the mini rukus. Feel like it's the more rare and more "Benchmade" typical axis folder. I'll grab an m390 or m4 later because they'll be around

Sorry, but I couldn't make it past the first paragraph. If you use your knife for self defense, it will have no value because it will be locked up in evidence. If you use it to save a life you would never sellet it anyways. I suggest that you reevaluate your wants and needs, and be honest with yourself.
I get what you meant now. You are in search of a knife for these roles, and want a good resale if you buy something that does not meet your needs. Have you thought about actually making a list of needs and features that you are wanting? Everyone needs something different, and it sounds like you want an actual working knife, where most members here want bling and specs. Just be careful, because your needs may not be theirs.
I would also recommend you shy away from buying a new knife when like new knives can be had here at a significant savings. Benchmade doesn't care where you bought it, so you may as well buy here.
I would also seriously consider how well you can retain the knife in bad situations. I know I can dunk my contego in blood, oil, or grease and still have a positive grip. Can you do that with the sexy knives everyone recommends? I was actually impressed when I coated a mini grip with dish soap, I really was, but it wasn't enough for me. Just some food for thought if you are serious about your intended use. The 940 and 710 are sweet knives, but they serve utility purpose for me and could never make an edc.
