Hey guys, I'm 20 going on 21, in university, and I've decided that it's just about time that I got myself a sword. I've been looking around a bit and found a site that looks pretty good to me. Here are the 3 swords that interest me from that site.

These 2 have a 10% off coupon.

This one does not.

shipping for any of them is around $30-40.

The one without a code is a) more expensive, and b) has no discount coupon. But IMO looks much nicer.
Either way, up to $350 is my budget. Which of these do you think I should get? Any other good battle ready sword recommendations??
I need a lot of input!!!

EDIT: checked out the CAS site, these two swords interested me. One cause it's cheap and easily wielded in one hand, the other cause it's nice.

It looks like he's looking for something European to me.
I can recommend the CAS Iberia War Sword. It was my choice over the Mercenary. Really more like a stage sword, didn't have much of an edge, but might be what you're looking for. It's the same kind as the Mercenary, just a different style, so if you get the Merc, expect what I mentioned.

It looks nice, but I'm looking for a sword that is sharpened already. The ones that I linked to originally are like that. any other recommendations? or which of the ones that i linked to do you think are better?

@casio: thanks for the recommendation! lots of great swords there.

@omniviking: im at a commuter university. all i need to worry about is getting it through customs.

speaking of that, does anybody know if that will be a problem?

Edit: wow, cant believe I forgot to mention that. yes, I am Canadian. And live in Ontario.

That depends on which version of customs. I'm going to guess that you are Canadian, but I don't know that's true.

Hate to say it but for 350$ I think you will ultimately be disappointed with most swords, rattlie handles and poor balance are a few things you will find lacking.

You may find something nice at scorpion swords though in that price range. They occasionally post in the for sale custom knives section so you may be able to find previous customers to ask them what they think.

good luck

You didn't say it, but, Are you only interested only in medieval style swords? If not, I'd suggest a gladius. There are may web sites where you can check for one (also, several styles of swords). Kult of Athena, was already mentioned; you may also want to check Imperial Weapons (I bougth a Mainz style gladius from them), Reliks, Swords of Honor, and several others. Good luck.

I didn't say it or think it, but as I go through all sorts of swords, its become clear to me that I am mainly interested in European style broadswords with fairly simple design. No extra fancy coils around the grip or as a hilt guard for instance.

I've narrowed it down to these 5. Two are more expensive and seem to be better quality. They certainly look nicer. And the other 3... well they're less expensive. Can anybody tell me anything about these specific swords and get me off the fence???

Don't skimp out and buy a cheaper one if you like a more expensive one. You'll probably end up regretting it and wishing you had gone with one that may have been a couple more bucks. Just get whichever one you like the most.

Buy a swamp rat rodent waki! Absolutely the best sword out there for the money. You can get one for about 350. They have a lifetime warranty and are made out of one of the best steels on the market SR 101 with a differential treat. I love mine you should get one you won't regret it!

Look on ebay and on the exchange here under busse,/swamp rat/ scrap yard knives for sale. I know there's one on ebay right now. You can def find one for around 350. You'll have to buy a sheath seperate most likely but it is totally worth it. Waki's are pretty much indestructible. You can chop down trees baton wood whatever you want and I've never managed to put a dent in mine- and anyone else will tell you the same.

I dont think we're allowed to link to active items on ebay but just type in swamp rat rodent waki and it is the first thing to show up. and if that one goes too high for you there are almost always waki's on ebay at a great price.

edit just looked on completed listings and one went for 319 a few days ago and one with a sheath for 385.

Ok, went onto ebay.com instead of .ca. there was 1 waki listed and they dont ship to canada unfortunately. I'll still look around, but I think in the end I wont be able to get one. I'll probably stick to one of the two swords that i last mentioned. thanks for telling me about that one though.

sorry i feel dumb for not telling you this. Look up scrap yard knives and look at their scrapazashi- It is swamp rats sister company and the scrapizashi is every bit as tough and only 285
http://shop.scrapyardknives.com/product.sc?productId=52&categoryId=4

Get one before they are gone they dont have many left. Same lifetime warranty

No sword in that price range will be able to come close to how tough the Scrapizashi is. Look it up on youtube. They cut through cinder blocks with them.
