Buying my last ones for a while, input needed.

Ok, cooled my jets on the 755 and did some more hunting. Since I decided to move up into that price range it opens up a lot more options. Right now I am looking at:

Benchmade 755
ZT 0550
Combative Edge M1
DPX Hest 2.0

It's pretty much a dead heat between the ZT, CE and DPX. I like all 3 very much. The 755 is slightly behind the pack because of the terrible looking pocket clip. Other than that I love the knife. But tip down is bad enough without a dog turd pocket clip. So what do you think of my 3 main choices?

I don't own any of them, but I've been drooling over the 550 since I first laid eyes on it. That gets my vote.

ZT 0550 vote here, after reading through all the posts and seeing your latest list of potentials.

I'm actually leaning towards the DPX. It's just about everything I could ask for. Tip up carry, Alternate opening method to the thumb studs, monster frame lock, etc. and being made by Lionsteel isn't a bad thing either. Also comes in a good bit less than the ZT. I've been reading all the reviews on it and have yet to find a bad one. May be the one I go with unless someone here talks me out of it.

There is a htm gun hammer in m390 from knifecenter. I would ask them about it it would blow those others away in that price range.

The BM 755 is a nice folder, titanium frame lock and m390 steel.

You really cant go wrong there, I just don't like the chode look to it ;)

Maddog- I took a hard look at the Gunhammer but I have 0 love for AO knives. Before that I was looking at the Subtosa, same thing. Can't deal with AO.

Zookie- LOL at "chode look"

0550. Better company, better warranty, better steel, better pocket clip, and better looks.

I'm seeing the DPX for $165-ish at more than one site. I think I just prefer the looks of the DPX over the ZT. Not that the ZT isn't a fine knife, it certainly is and I am stil thinking hard between the two.

You'd def dig the 0200. I handled my friends 0300 and was very impressed. I'm sure that you would dig it. a big beefy blade, decent steel, and a generally beast folder!

I understand the preference for the S35V, I also see there seems to be some sort of funk hanging over the DPX because of problems with the 1.0 version but from what I hear they have been worked out. But the DPX has pretty much the same lifetime warranty the ZT has. I am thinking I may go with the DPX for now (not to say I won't end up with the ZT at some point) because it looks a little more pocketable to me: Thinner, not as long, etc. Unless I see something major that steers me away from the DPX I think I will go with that.

... But the DPX has pretty much the same lifetime warranty the ZT has..

A LOT of companies have pretty much the same warranty ZT has, the problem comes when you actually have to send a knife in. Kershaw/ZT is second to NONE.

That said, the HEST folder looks sweet and I've thought about getting one myself (lefthanded version), but am still a little weary after all the issues with the original 1.0.

I tell you, every review I've read of the 2.0 has had nothing but good to say about them. One guy actually compared it side by side with the 1.0 and showed all the differences between the new model, explained what was changed and why. Overall the knife just seems like a beast and is a little more pocketable than the ZT. I'm sure I'll end up with the ZT sooner or later but for now, the DPX is looking like my best bet.
