hey guys,
Decided to buy myself a new knife to add to the collection. its going to be for EDC and working shift as a LEO ( I also carry a manix 2 and leatherman with me on duty) I ve narrowed it down to 4 different blades. HELP me decide. I would like serrations. deep carry and a window break. I want all three!!!! opinions ! its going to be my quick access knife for shift along with a good reliable heavier duty edc for vacations and camping.

1. DPX hest 2.0 triple black- ( i know the issues with the first production)
2. Lionsteel SR1-al red or blue NO Serration :(
3. Mircotech ultratech S/E 121-1 black ( I know total curve ball but i like the cool factor )
4. zt 0560 - ( no serration or window break but reviewed as a great heavy duty folder )

thanks

Out of those four I'd go ZT0560. Carried one everyday for a long time and used it a ton. For me it was a fantastic knife.

Can also vouch for a 0560
also as an ultratech owner I wouldn't edc one if serious things are happening
last thing you want is pocket "junk" jamming your "life saving" knife.
I did edc mine for a long time just cause I loved it so.
but I usually had a back up for it.
not trying to sway you from ultra but you'd be better served with another:)

If you foresee yourself possibly using your knife in an emergency situation, you should choose something other than the Ultratech. On the whole it's a very reliable knife with a strong lock. In fact for light to moderate EDC use I would recommend it over many other comparably priced folders in a state where automatics are legal to own and carry. A large advantage that I see with the D/A front opening mechanism is that if the lock were to fail there is no risk of injury to the hands, and it's also much more difficult to accidentally deploy a D/A front opener than a knife whose blade is held only by a ball detent. However, springs can break, sometimes when you don't expect.

Zero Tolerance 0360 - skd
*(based off tbe 0350, I lol'd when I read the review call it the high protein low carb blade; 30% lighter and quicker release).

Great HD reliability of a ZT but WITH a glass break....

Only thing still missing is serrations but the dlc coated zt-s30v blade means you will probably never need 'em anyways.

Benchmade Triage and the 810 both offer all 3 options you want; serrations, deep pocket clip, and glass breaker

For less then $100 you can get a Kershaw Blur w/ glass break, combo blade (razor sharp svandik steel) and one of the best assisted thumb flips in the business (my personal favorite knife right now). For the price adding a deep carry clip isn't a problem.

Didn't pick any of the 4 you narrowed it down to though... Lol, my bad.

I was looking at those knives as well last week. I really wanted the hest 2.0 because of the looks as well as the lion steel sr1/2 but I ended up going with a ZT 0562cf. After watching videos of the the hest I found plenty of people who's knives developed lock rock very quickly due to material wearing away from opening and closing the knife. Yes the 2.0. Maybe it's due to the fact that the lock bar doesn't have a steel insert, I don't know. I still want one, but for the money I was going to spend I wanted something A little better. I also watched some hard use testing on the lion steel sr1 and the lock seemed to fail rather easily with some hard spine wacks. Obviously this stuff isn't very reliable tests, they're just a few reviews from a few people. It could have came down to just the specific knife that they had, doesn't mean they're all going to be like that.

But like I said just because of the money, I went with the zt 0562 because I really couldn't find a single bad thing out there about it. Same with the other zts, 550, 560, etc.

I still will be buying a hest eventually, I just didn't end up going with one this time. Same with the lion steel. I will also be buying one of those. I know they are both excellent knives. And like I said I don't consider a couple reviews here or there as proof of anything. Just letting you know how this decision went for me since I was looking at the same blades. In sure you will be happy with any of those.

Don't worry. Half the knives the OP narrowed it down to didn't have all the "must haves".

ZT 0560/1. I'm quite happy with mine.

I know, and the 2 that did were the most questionable choices on his list, that's why I offered a few more options... I was focusing more on the;

"I want all three!!!! Opinions!"

Part of the OP
