Buying order preferences for ESEE knives?

I have a 6 and an Izula to start, because I thought it would provide the most coverage in terms of my uses. After reading some threads on this forum, a lot of people wonder what they should get for their next knives.

So my question is, rank the order of knives to get in order to cover all your bases (in terms of usage).

Being a newbie, this is my incomplete list

1. ESEE 6
2. Izula
3. ESEE 3?
4. ??
5. ??

Thanks!

The Izula was the gateway knife for me. Then came the 4. I thought they would be all I would need, (make that want) but I now find myself trying to justify a 5 and another Izula... It is a really bad addiction.

I'd say it's all up to you, uid 13. Down here, we have heavy vegetation. If I didn't already have one, I'd get a machete or Junglas. One big knife and one small knife, and you're good to go! I like the ESEE-3 better for for slicing, but if I didn't have a bigger knife, I'd get the ESEE-4 because it is more rugged and can take more lateral force for prying out fat wood and such. You already have the best "all around", the ESEE-6.

You might want a Junglas next, just in case. It's a fun knife, if nothing else.

Honestly, I never planned on buying any of the other ones (I'm not much of a knife collector) so I bought the 4 first because I thought it could do most everything I wanted in a fixed blade knife. It's true, it can do it all and it is still my favorite.

With that said, I then started buying the others just because they're good quality knives and I like using them. All of mine see use at different times but the 4 is still the trusty workhorse.

I acquired mine (some of them won in contests thanks to the generosity of ESEE)

4
3 and Izula
6
Lite Machete
5

Guess I need a Junglas

Oh and a Laser Strike and Izula folder. :D

As I guy I have to think utilitarian. I use my knives for hunting purposes.
esee5 as a camp knife. I suppose a 6 would work)
esee3 for skinning. (I suppose 4 would work but just a bit too big for me.)
scalpels for caping (can carry alot of blades in a little space)..

If I ever venture back down to the jungles again I will have machete of some sort.

as tony once warned me.... the 3's seem to reproduce on their own. I have three, and plans for at least 2 more. Izulas, dont even get me started on counting those. I've got them all, they ARE pokemon...

In reality, you have more knife than you'll ever need. The three is nice and thin, but you don't NEED to go out and get one. I would recommend getting either a lite machete, or a $15 cheapo machete. I got one after reading jeff yammer on and on about them....and one swing changed my life in a second. Love 'em

If I had none right now and had to buy all over again, this would be my order.

-Izula

-Junglas

-ESEE-3

-Izula II

-ESEE-6

(I'd be very happy and over knifed with just these)

-ESEE-4

-ESEE-5

Same for me, only started out to buy the Junglas to use around our property. Damn knife worked so good, balanced, handle actually fit my hand, I ended up just today getting the HEST in the mail. That one goes on my daily hiking bag. Now there will be a "6" ordered Monday from Howe's Knife Shop (I know shameless plug) for my camping gear. I just got a pink Izula for my wife for Christmas and for the cancer connection, & I am thinking about getting 2 of the "5"'s for our leave home bags to replace the knives in them.
Great knives, great price, unheard of warranty, & a crazy owner who gets out with his products & gets his hands dirty using them . . . what more could you want in "user" knives ??? :)
Be safe.

I started with an Izula (got the scales later).

Won an ESEE 5 (thanks guys!), but sold it to buy a pack and some new hiking boots (priorities, right?)

Bought a 4, then gifted it to my dad.

Won another Izula with scales (thanks again fellas!)

And hopefully I'll win something else "soon". ;)

I am looking at a line up suitable for overnight backpacking mostly in state parks, but I like to be more prepared then the ultra light folks ya see these days. I am thinking

Izula
Esee-3
Esee-5

The Junglas would be the next purchase, but is way more knife than I need for my purposes.

The order that I bought them in:

1) RC-6
2) pink izula for the ladyfriend
3) junglas
4) got a hest today

if i had to start over i would first get either a junglas and 3

or a 6 first

I have an Izula. Next I'd really like a 3 or a 4. I've fondled both in my local shop and I feel like they're sort of the perfect size for an everyday outdoor knife.

1. IZULA
2. 4
3. 5
4. Another 5 just 'cause they are so freakin amazing.
5. Another 4 in different color
6. IZULA to keep in your vehicle
7. 5 to keep in your vehicle for extracting crash victims from vehicles.

If I had none right now and had to buy all over again, this would be my order.

that's very interesting..

Is there a reason that the Izula has priority over a 3 or a 4? It seems like those knives have the most flexibility
