Bloody awesome mate!!!!! Busse knives certainly are something to behold. Just wait till you start using it, you'll see what everyone is talking about. You will be able to abuse that knife in ways you normally wouldn't do to a knife and it will just smile and keep asking for more.

Look me up when you're in my neck of the woods :)

Will do mate. And thanks for the words everyone. Kinda unusual to see an online community this supportive/enthusiastic. I'll post some pics when get a change to use it properly.

Now, to look for a NMFBM, non-magnum micarta scales, maybe black/green, black/black...

Chris.

Good first Busse!

Great weight to performance on that one.

I think you need a smaller one as a companion now.

I started with FBMLE, then SS, GW, Ash1, B11, now KZII on order.

Lol... your first Busse is definately a feeling of Xmas and being a kid again

And you got one of the best models to start with .... They are a very comfortable and capable chopper ....

Probably not very exciting for you guys but it was for me. I cannot believe the size, weight and balance of this thing. The physical presence of it is amazing. I seriously underestimated what it was I was buying from Busse. I thought this was a bit of a lightweight chopper, best used for scrub and bush. Fair dinkum, I was wrong. I intend to belt the cr@p out of this on our next camping trip too.

I kind of had to LOL at this. Once you move up to the larger (or should I say, wider, Mistresses), you'll realize this IS the lightweight chopper! If this is a machete, the NMFBMLE is a broadsword.

The BWM is definitely the best all-rounder of the Mistress line. It can do light brush or fairly heavy chopping. Once you get to 3"+ the larger Mistresses start having a definite advantage, but you'll rarely chop that size of wood camping.

I really like the other Mistresses, but I remember getting my BWM and holding her the first time: it was like "Oh HELL YEAH." That grip works perfectly with the blade.

Now, get a good 'hawk to pair it with!

Thanks for sharing.

I'll be taking mine out today when mowing the lawn. Works well with low hanging branches and prickly vines. I get to wear it in my MashedCat sheath with the new dangler attachment. Fun fun fun! :D

I swear it gets sharper everytime I use it.

Have fun and be safe.

I have been thinking about this but I'm worried it may be too small. If I needed to chop large logs and timber etc it could be a little time consuming. I'd been looking for a decent axe. What's the hawk in that pic? How useful is that para cord grip - does it move much under heavy use?

Chris.

You want a heavier chopper? Then get a NMFBM-LE or a new Gladius they are a beast when compared to your BWM.

I'd love a NMFBM and will probably search mine down in time but I was thinking of picking up an axe for some trips. Surely no knife compares to an axe? I thought even a 'hawk may be a tad small for proper chopping. Imagine 10"+ hardwood...

The hawk is a Cold Steel Trail Hawk head on a composite haft made by member Vector001. The finish is rough, so it doesn't slide around at all, and the paracord helps by providing over strike protection.
