Jeez you guys keep a lot of stuff by your beds. I only have my cell phone that doubles as alarm clock, flashlight, and S&W .38 revolver. My pants don't get unloaded, so it I grab them and pull on, I'm loaded and set to go.

Carl.

CZ 75BD Tactical with light, extra 19 round mag and Remington 870 short barrel, high cap 12 ga pump. Both loaded and ready. I also have a Surefire light and an older 4 D cell Maglight Whatever knives were carried that day in drawer. Wife has a S&W Highway Patrolman .357 mag and 3 D cell Maglight on her side. The dog sleeps on the floor beside her as well.

Holly cow, not the place to go visiting at night! Notice: Forget about the dog, beware of the owner. Super prepared set up, I'm liking it.
On my night stand: I've got a flashlight, an Ipod alarm clock and a picture. I do have several knives on my dresser however.

I feel a little less crazy now. Buck 119, Bark River Woodsman (?), half a dozen Rough Riders. Sig 220, old school single stack.

I have a Rising Sun bandana (ala Ralph Macchio)....well, I actually wear it to bed so I don't have to fidget with it while I dawn my white belt and karate gee from the top drawer of the nite stand just before I grab (from my nite wear ankle holsters) my two sets of foam covered plastic hollow nunchukas and get into my "crane stance" which will put the fear of Haities into any unsuspecting home invader as I start singing "We are the champions" by Queen in a soprano-ish tenor-like pitched blood curdling solo of death.....
All seriousness, I have a phone and a bottle of water, toenail clippers, and 2 big German Shepherds in the room next to my bed and sometimes one of them is in the middle of it grudgingly hogging my space ...grrrh... my pocketknives are in a box in another room, but usually there is 1 from the day's duty on my nite stand as well.... there's guns around somewhere here but I would probably shoot myself in the foot or blast the water heater if I was awoken to defend my palace so I surrender those duties to my loud mouth dogs....
Happy Mother's Day :->

Hehe, I feel normal after seeing what some of you keep next to the bed.
No handguns here. (Not my choice.) But I have a ww1 trench mace, tramontina machete & torch (flashlight) In my sock draw.

My side of the bed and night stand:

Almost everyone of the 300+ knives I have, 5 pistols, Ruger MKII .22, Jennings .22, Davis .380, Taurus 9mm, S&W 9mm, US Arms .44 mag, 3 rifles, 7 flashlights, all my sharpenin' equipment, about a dozen books, various tools, watches, Handcuffs, 2 GPSs, various medicines, a bottle of water, some old collectible toys, oh yeah and the dog. :)

Oh forgot the 2 remotes, no phone, that's downstairs.

Standard issue is a large fixed blade under the pillow and the black and white cat sleeping at the foot of the bed. The night stand has a variety of stuff ranging from 3 flashlights, extra knives, toilet paper for blowing my nose and house dust.

No, nothing. Don't have bedside table here. Load of knives ,24 last count, on my writing desk though (ALL traditional mind)

At my place in the country I keep a machete UNDER the bed and an Irish Blackthorn walkingstick by it:D:D

On nightstand: Dad's old lamp I refurbished, 0-1" micrometer, micrometer wrench, 6" rule, book for reading, zippo without fuel for fiddling with/scaring the cat, sometimes what I was carrying that day.
In slot between bedframe and mattress supporter: One shorter and fatter nightstick on top of a longer and skinnier nightstick, both wooden.

Nightstand? No gots.

Alarm clock is across the room on the dresser so I have to get out of bed to hit the snooze bar. Sometimes there is a pocket knife there that hasn't been put away yet.

My nightstand is an overturned laundry basket. On it: water bottle. The tv remote, depending if me or the wife turned it off before turning in. There's a 3 or 4 D Maglit under the bed, too.

Nothing exciting next to the bed but an old beat up sears and roebuck baseball bat I got from my great grandmother that looks to be from when they were still wearing rubber helmets (in football not baseball). Its only there because I haven't found a better place to put it (i.e. I'm lazy).
