I'm not blown away by the looks of the Byrd. Don't know how it handles, fit & finish, etc., so I won't chime in on that.
Sal makes a good point about improvements & initial public reaction. When I saw my 1st Spydercos (circa '81-'82) I absolutely hated them. I was firmly convinced that I would NEVER own one of those ugly, humpbacked, serrated, "Ginsu-looking" knives. Now I own or have owned more than 2 dozen. I carry a Spyderco every day. Never say never. Sal & Co. do a good job- they're probably the top innovators in the industry & don't underestimate them. That being said, Sal, you've got a job on your hands w/ the Byrd line. Hats off to you for wanting to introduce a "bargain" line w/out sacrificing quality, but IMHO there's still some ground left to cover.
