I'm looking at getting a Byrd Meadowlark. The look and price both appeal to me. The question is, what would the advantage be of the G10 handle over the FRN handle? What about the stainless handle? Also, how is 8Cr13MoV for a blade steel? Thanks.

welcome.....

do a search here and you'll find a lot of information in regards to the Meadowlark. that being said.....i have one with the G-10 scales. I carry this knife frequently and use it pretty hard. The edge holds up just fine and is easy to keep sharp.

I'm not an FRN hater...but I would definitely take G-10 over FRN any day. FRN feels.....flimsy to me. For the money, you can't go wrong with any of the Byrd line.

The FRN is lighter, but has a little squish and flex to it. The G10 is heavier, but VERY solid feeling. Both are a great value.

Both meadowlarks are great. I have a g-10 and FRN model, and while the G-10 model is a bit nicer, I'd say go for the FRN if you're going to EDC it.

I'd second the FRN version for everyday carry. It's much lighter and sturdy enough to take what 95% of us will throw at it. I have the
FRN version and its great. I also have a G10 Cara Cara and an FRN version and like them both, but will carry the FRN more as its lighter in the pocket.

OR- you could buy them both as neither will set you back that much.:D
