BYRD Robin G10 or FRN?

Alright, I have definitely caught the Spyderco bug. The knife I am looking into is the BYRD Robin. I am currently debating between FRN and G10. I have two questions:
1. What is the difference between the two materials?
2. Can anyone tell me the weight of the FRN Robin? I know the G10 is 2.5 Ounces, and if the FRN is significantly lighter I will probably get it instead.

Thanks.

Hi MrGroovy,

FRN = 2.15 oz.

That includes nested stainless liners, & a 4 way clip.

If you can, go to a local knife store and handle both. I prefer FRN, but I might be in the minority on that.

i havent handled the frn robin, but i own the g10 one and its awesome. they dont cost much, may as well get both:)

Is the FRN Robin out yet? I'm not a fan of G10 and I've been waiting for the FRN one. It's not listed on the Spyderco website (neither is th G10 one, which is available for sale) or at the Pharmacy.

The G-10 Robin is AWESOME! It kicked my Dragonfly out of my pocket. It's a bit heavy, so when the FRN Robin comes out, I will pounce..... :D

I personally loved the way the G10 Meadowlark felt in my hand as compared to many of the FRN offerings, but after carrying this Native for the past couple months I've fallen in love with how it just disappears into my pocket. I literally don't even feel it clipped in there, its so light and skinny. Now, if I were to pick up a Byrd for EDC I'd probably go with FRN.

I prefer the G10 model, but I keep mine on my desk most of the time. It is an amazing little knife. I thinned and convexed the edge and it just cuts like crazy. It is one of the the very best values out there for a small lockback IMHO.

i keep hearing how the frn versions are so much thinner than the G-10 versions. but does anybody have actual handle thickness numbers? or is this an "illusion" because the frn is clearly lighter and so it suddenly feels much thinner too?

i remember somebody posting spine shots of both a frn meadowlark and G-10 meadowlark and to my eyes the thickness wasn't THAT big. so does anybody have numbers to quantify the difference in thickness between frn and G-10?

Alright, I have decided to go with the FRN. 2.5 oz. is just too heavy for a small knife to me. Thank you for all your help Mr. Glesser, instead of like regular forums where I hear unrelated unbacked responses from everyone. I have one last question:
Is here:
