Sorry about the crappy'er than usual photo but its been raining here all day plus I took the photo later in the day. This is the knife I had posted yesterday with the chunks of wrought iron on it. Worked on it till 11PM last night and finished it and the sheath this morning. Its got a 6 1/2" 1065 blade, WI, and sea cow rib bone for the handle. 12" overall. Its got a knockout hamon on it but pour lighting washed it out. I'll take another one later if I don't sell it at the one day show I'll be doing tomorrow.

Probably wont get to see it again. It should sell pretty quick.
So what do you think about the hypoeutectoid steel. Does it seem that it needs to be a bit hotter for the quench as opposed to hypereutectoid.

Very cool Richard! i too love the look of that sea cow bone..that knife flows so well!

Ray, that's a real deal. I do like indeed. What is sea cow and where do I get some?

Mark, You got me scratching my head...... Old man goes by color......

IG, I used super glue two part epoxy on the outside of the bone after I had it to shape. Did that a couple times and then finish sanded it. When I epoxied the handle to the knife I just filled it up with epoxy and let it absorb. Did that about 4 or 5 times. It really sucked it in.

Roger, I got the rib bone at a knife show 7 or 8 years ago from a fellow that sold osic, ivory, and such that had come from Alaska. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.....

I was just curious how the 1065 was compared to 1084 or 1095. I just got a batch from Kelly Cupples and havent had time to play with it yet.

Ray, that's might fine work! Sea cow rib and whole works looks really great, fella. I do enjoy your designs, too. Your forge ever get cold? I doubt it!

Mark, As far as your question about the 1065 I really don't notice any difference working it compaired to 1084. When you come right down to it there's really not that much difference between the to.

The mini show was normal for me this time. Last year I had a big sale before the doors even openned and had a couple smaller sales durring the day. I came and went with what I brought with me except for a few elk tips. Custom knife sales didn't much happen for anyone.

Here's a much better picture of the knife with a ghost like resemblence of a bald head in it. Guess I forgot to put my stocking cap on.......
