Here is an original C. Sharps & Co. Model 1A 4 barrel Derringer in .22 short patented in 1859. This derringer is in great condition considering its age. The serial number is 11,3XX and was probably manufactured before or during the Civil War. The firing pin revolves in hammer to strike each cartridge. The firing pin revolves when the gun is pointed down but not always when the gun is pointed up. The bores are in good condition and rifling is still visible. The bluing is still good on the barrels. Also, at some point in its history the barrel release pin was changed out with a home made one. This is a functional derringer but I would not advise shooting modern ammo out of an antique gun. You are free to make up your own mind, however. That's about all I know on this but you are welcome to pm or email me with questions or requests for additional pics.
