I have been hearing about people having trouble with C-tec "melting" while grinding. I started working with it before I heard this and have been pleased with the result. I am wondering if any one els used it and what kind of results have you been getting. I am wondering if this is a scary new thing reaction or if I have missed something. Thank for your advice Dan

I really like it so far. I have only done one set of scales but I found the material pleasant to work with.

I just ground it slow with my standard setup and it worked somewhat quickly. The hand sanding went well also.

I have been wanting to try it out. I've never heard of anyone having a bad experience with.
That is a mighty fine looking knife Daniel!

I slowed my belt down and it worked great. If I am working on a large surface I will dunk it like when I am shaping a blade. I did some checking if it dose get soft it will re harden when it drops below 200 degrees, without losing any properties. when I was play with it I used a heat gun of high got it soft then gently rubber it and let it cool and got a cool textured feel. It will also take a nice polish i took this up to 4F

I use a sharp bit and use a nozzle on from my compressor to blow air across the bit to keep the flights clear. I use a carbide blade to cut it and then grind my edges. I have had no problems.

Any problems with chip - out at the edges ?

No problem here but it was just the one set of scales.

I backed the piece with wood when I drilled it so that probably helped avoid that type of chip out. I will say I'm sure it's better than Carbon fiber at least for non chiped drilling!

I try to grind in a way that won't cause any chip out... it is a habit I have from cutting stone. I could imagine it chipping like micarta can do.

RyanW used some and did a great review here ---> http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ot-The-Bringer-quot-amp-C-Tek-Handle-Material

Thanks for the compliments on the knife!

I'm not even sure how to approach a grind like that but would love to be able to do it someday. Also would really like to try this ctec out.
