This GEC Scout Trapper belonged to John JohnDF JohnDF but lived it's life in the dark, in a tube, and had no soul.

BUT John gifted it to me and I freed it from it's tube and gave it life, worked it, and now it sits proud on my desk or in my pocket with soul.

Probably a little over dramatic but Hey!! Soul is soul.

Soul…
My first true BF forum knaf !
From my pal Cal tongueriver tongueriver
The one that interested me the most of three in a single purchase. The other vintage Queens are as well, most appreciated and not to be moved anytime soon.
Thank you to James, Paul, Duncan, Greg, Charlie, meako, sitflyer, John, ED and Preston for the stories and ALL the others for a wunderful pictorial as I’m sure there will be more “soul-knafs” to be shared here.
Appreciated reading from a newer porch member!
Cheers,
Gus

I’ve many regrets over those knives that I had owned over the years, miss them all but not being independently wealthy I have to move them in order to get the next. My current one is very nice and a little different which adds to its soul

To me soul equals character…

Not the greatest photo but this one has tons of character. The Damascus, the swoop of the clip, the bone, the colors, the walk and talk, all of it. Everything about this knife speaks to me. I modified it to make access to the spey blade easier, which makes it even more personalized.

Some great posts, with some great knives!
I've got many, many that have some special significance, maybe that's soul. I consider myself lucky and blessed.

I do have one that seems to rise to the top of the list whenever I ponder on what makes a knife special to me. I always end up here. This trapper made by John Lloyd, which I picked up on the Exchange in 2017. It's spent more time as my edc then any other knife I've owned, since I was a young man.

What's the draw? It's many things all coalesced into that thing that makes it the one.
1. It wasn't expensive for a handmade knife. Means I don't mind using it.
2. The stag is primo and I love me some CPM-154. Crucible Metals was a customer of mine many years ago.
3. John Lloyd made it. John helped us out in 2014? when he provided the stag for all the traditional forum knives, as well as the Canal Street Eric's Jack, that was offered as an alternate that year. What a generous thing for him to do. Just awesome in my book!
4. I love the shadow pattern. The pins and shield just set off the wonderful stag.
5. I love the clip blade.
6. It's a simple, nothing fancy knife that looks as good as it carries, and as good as it works.

I should stop now or my knife nuttery will be really apparent!

I've posted it more times then I should have, but it's what I carry most.

I feel that knives and items that have Soul will make you bring back memories . These knives or items are just some of the many that I have that will do that . I could go on and on .
These were gifted to me by my friend Ron

These are gifts from paulhilborn paulhilborn and Campbellclanman Campbellclanman

This was a Gift from JohnDF JohnDF

This wonderful Old Stag Pruner can only be appreciated when in hand and makes me wonder who did such a fine job making it and who has had it and where all has it been . Whoever had it , took great care of it .

This was not my first Stag , but it is the one that inspired me to make it my Favorite handle material

This one , because it will always remind me of waynorth waynorth Charlie

I bought this in 1961 and carried it with me all the time and All Over the U.S.A. and other places until 2003.

These 3...kind of inexplicable...the ruby red because its the first GEC I ever bought.
Down the bottom "Ol Pondy" the algae coloured dye job has grown on me as if with some therapeutic power.
The burnt bone Schatt n Morgan stockman...an unexpected greatly valued gift from @Fodderwing ...At the time xmas 2018... I think the devil had taken my soul ( instantly regretting it of course) I had bought a SnM large stockman with orange burl scales as a Xmas present to my self ...I woke up that xmas morning alone and severly depressed...on a mattress on the floor of my rented room...I felt something crawling on my skin under the sheet...a cockroach ...easily 1.5 inches....on my back under the sheet!!...This is IT for me! ..was what I thought.
So I opened my present I had been saving ...was I clinging to bygone happy xmasses with the kids? One of the scales was quite warped and lifted at the bolster...I fixed it as best I could...
I think I posted it for advice ...and Dwight sent me the burnt orange bone stockman you see above....Is it possible that St Florian lifted me up with that gesture of Porchiness and dare I say it? Brotherhood...
Well look at me now

I can hear Satan wringing his claws and moaning at his minions to get the fire going again....yelling
" Meeaakoooh!! You Are Soul ....you"ll be back!!!"...and to that I say careful what you wish for ..I'll be wearing my Little Rock FD Captains t shirt.

I've been all through the southeast, seen couches in all sorts of locations (front porches usually) but I can't say I've ever seen one on a rollback (if that's what it is). You'd fit right in.....
