C36TIP Upgraded

Is the insert also titanium as well as the lock bar? If it is , is the insert hardened or carbonized? Would it make more sense to make it stainless at a higher RC ? The LionSteel SR1 has an insert also.

It is steel. Not sure exactly which, nor how heat-treated, but I think we can assume that Spyderco thought that through...presumably approximately at least as hard as the blade.

The insert is steel.

That's what I thought when I received my m4 millie. I was surprised at how many people were not fans of it. Some even called it an eyesore. I don't know how something that small on the inside of the scale can be considered an eyesore, but whatever. It's brilliant in its simplicity.

Yes, I remember a couple of posts like that. Goofy would be a mild word to describe that opinion, in my opinion...

I would presume at most as hard as the blade; the insert should be "softer" (maybe not by much) than the blade otherwise the lock face on the blade could wear. I don't think a harder insert would be beneficial cost wise. I'd rather replace a 440(or whatever) insert than a 4" FFG S30v blade. I

I'd like to know where u ordered the knife from because I'd like to pick one up with the insert. Thank you in advance sir

My M4 Mil has that little lock bar addon. Great feature, and (on mine anyway) the blade is still centered.

I got mine from an eBay dealer. I made sure to ask about the insert before I bought it.

:)

@Rev: Sorry to hear that bud. Try tightening the pivot, and loosening the handle screws, align the blade, and then tighten it all back up and back off the pivot.

I had to bend my pocket clip out just a hair because it was putting force on the lockbar. Mine is well centered though.
